I believe the fault is due to this error, I need to test wiring but can not find diagrams anywhere!

I have downloaded the wiring diagrams off Erwin but it wont show me pin outs for the plugs :(

It shows the pin allocation numbers though. Then the pin/socket chambers in the plug-couplers are labelled. Admittedly, the older I get, the stronger reading glasses and brighter light are required.

Also, wiring core colours are shown on erWin to help you chase the wires.

Just realised i have been looking at the diagrams for T6.1. Erwin will not give the option for diagrams for this model, only ''fitting instructions''
any ideas? strange how it will not give diagrams for a older model. or am i being stupid?

So let's have a look at your diagram. The alternator should have a yellow/green LIN wire, in common with the BDM sensor, going to BCM T73b (=white connector) pin 37. Given that your BDM is connected, I suspect that either the wire is damaged somewhere near the alternator in the engine bay, or the connector has some corrosion or is simply not connected.

Thanks for your response.
I can not figure out how to upload a picture of my diagram, however I am 100% certain the diagram I have is for the T6.1 and its wired differently to the model in question. Still is a yellow and green wire, but it goes to the J533 T20a pin 3.

I will check continuity from the BCM T73b (=white connector) pin 37 to Alternator. hopefully this is the pin I needed, just could not find the diagram.

No corrosion on plug, it is 100% connected as I have had it off and on.

Coming to look at it, have a look at T10i (dark brown 10pin connector in e-box). This way, you don't have to look at the BCM directly, but take the LIN port on the BDM (negative battery terminal). We know that line between the BCM and the BDM is working fine. Saves you a couple of metres of wire and the hassle of disconnecting the BCM.

I believe to have deduced that your problem is within the orange square:

FIXED. I HAVE NOW HAD 3-4 OF THE SAME VEHICLES WITH THE SAME FAULT NOW. SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON FAULT.

THE BRAKE IN THE LIN WIRE FROM ALTERNATOR IS ALWAYS IN THE SAME PLACE. FOLLOW THE WIRE FROM ALTERNAOTR INTO THE LOOM AND JUST BEFORE WERE THE LOOM STARTS TO GO UP THE ENGINE BAY IS WHERE IT BRAKES. OPEN PLASTIC CASING AROUND LOOM AND PULL ON YELLOW AND GREEN WIRE, IT WILL SNAP EASY.

SEEMS TO BE WHERE WATER SITS INISDE/THE LOWEST POINT OF THE LOOM AND CORODES THE WIRING.
