I've had the VCDS since last year and it's great. Thus far I haven't used it for much more than making some tweaks to my vehicle (adjusting the blinker lights and such).
In the meantime, I became tired of the slowness of the RNS-510 module and the fact that it didn't support Carplay so I ordered a RCD-330 along with a camera adapter from Lemon Shark on Aliexpress. The installation was fairly painless, mostly plug in play except for the adapter. I did unplug the Bluetooth module that's under the passenger seat (HT-6C PN: 561 035 285) as bluetooth is included in the new head unit.
In order for the radio to produce sound I needed to disconnect the battery for a few minutes then reconnect it. This caused a bunch of errors to be thrown, but the radio worked.
I was able to clear the majority of the faults using VCDS however I still have a couple of issues.
First, it seems like the TPMS isn't able to communicate with the central computer. This might just be that I need to drive the car around a bit, i haven't had a chance to do that yet.
Second, I'm unable to access the radio control module (56). I have a feeling it's the new part number that end's in an F vs the A-E models currently out there. I emailed in the channel mapping so hopefully that's easy to fix with an update. I plan to use this as a guide for the updates to make (disable navigation, etc).
There are a number of errors that still exist in the scan, things like motor for the rear window regulator is missing calibration, how do i fix that? Or Steering angle sensor for steering aid isn't working, I didn't think I had such a feature in my car. The signal for the mirror adjustment on the passenger side is "Implausible" which sounds kinda crazy.
Fourth, the backup camera isn't working even though I've wired it up with the adapter. I have more troubleshooting to do on this, make sure my wiring is correct, make sure box I received from Lemon Shark actually works, etc, but I'm thinking there might be a radio setting that needs to be adjusted?
Finally, is there some way to tell it to stop looking for a phone, or do i need to wait until the radio coding is completed?
