I don't see anything that indicates a failed ECU. I see failed sensors or improperly reporting sensors. Care to give more background? Such as how the car is acting and so on?

If it were my car, I'd go find the wiring diagrams and see what is in common to the three sensors that the ECU is barking about. Perhaps there is a common link among them and one could then look at that link to see why these are failing to report proper conditions. Implausible signal and open circuits usually lead to a wiring issue.

Could it be a bad ECU? Yep it could. But that is the most expensive item... start with basics and move toward that expensive item.

Thank you for the replies, when I first start the car from cold I get the faults and I clear them and restart the car they don't come back while driving, its only when I have let it cooled down, the car runs fine apart from that.

Do you get this DTC without starting the engine, just ignition on?
On a cold start, fire the engine up, clear the DTC and exit out of the ECM quickly. Shut car down. Does the code come back on the next start up?

Cold start... temperature related? Could putting the ECM into the fridge next the beer effect the ECM? Does it have to run longer before it clears out? Note, be sure it isn't a Lucas refrigerator, that wouldn't be a valid test. :p

My educated guess is you will need to replace the ECM. May as well open it up and take a look inside. Maybe you will get lucky and find a cracked solder joint or something.

Would the map sensor cause the 17795 fault code or am i just not accepting its the ECM?
Jack how do I recode the module to default in simple terms?
Thank you all for your help it's much appreciated.

Hi Jack, I followed the instructions on recoding module to default that you gave me, it was already showing 10510 in software coding so I pressed do it and the fault cleared, not sure if I was suppose to do this with the car running or not? I will let you know how it went on as it normally goes after I have cleared it then comes back when I restart when the engine is cold. thank you again for your support and being patient with me.

It gets done not running and you have not set a different WSC or VCDS config .....please do so in VCDS config and set the tester ID, WSC, and Importer #.

Address 01: Engine Labels: None
Part No: 1ML 906 032
Component: 1.8l R4/5VT 0001
Coding: 10510
Shop #: WSC 33278 <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

When you see that number get changed to the WSC code you input in config, it helps verify you actually recoded with 10150

17795 - Control Module Malfunction - Internal Altitude/Pressure Sensor
P1387 - 35-00 -

If this fault fails to vacate you need a module.

FYI we have that module new and reman if needed.

Yes but the WSC must be changed to show an alternate login of the WSC.......make it for example 12349 Importer # 888 and and tester # 36987 save it restart VCDS and when in the 07 screen you should see the new numbers and use 10510
