Hi all,

I installed a cruise control and handles from an A7 4G in hopes to get CC to work. But when I try to activate it in the engine module I get the following error code:

This error seems to be messing with the start/stop system

Also in the instruments module I activated the Cruise Control Option installed

But I am not able to change the option in the steering wheel module
Byte02 bit 2-3. If I change this to CCS installed I get an error: Coding rejected, Error 31: Request out of range.

Here is a scan of my car before messing with the coding :).

I have no idea if the steering module supports ACC or normal CC. I googled some and asked around and I thought it was as simple as swapping the handles and enabling it in the software. But I think I am not that fortunate.

After quick search i wasn't able to locate any ACC fitted cars with this SWCM, but as i said. Quick search.

Where did you get stalks? Maybe you can get module from there also.

Is the steering wheel module the only one that is not compatible? Or do I need to aquire more modules, for example engine module?

Update:
I did some more research on the steering module, to see what I need.
According to partbase.org I found:
Code:
4H0 953 568 A	:	PR-GH0, GH1+, QZ7+7Y0, 7Y1+, 8T1
4H0 953 568 B	:	PR-GH0, GH1+, QZ7+7Y0, 7Y1+, 8T4
4H0 953 568 C	:	PR-GH0, GH1+, QZ7+7Y0, 7Y1+, 8T0
4H0 953 568 D	:	PR-GH0, GH1+, QZ7+7Y0, 7Y1+, 8T1
4H0 953 568 E	:	PR-GH0, GH1+, QZ7+7Y0, 7Y1+, 8T0
4H0 953 568 F	:	PR-GH0, GH1+, QZ7+7Y0, 7Y1+, 8T1
4H0 953 568 G	:	PR-GH0, GH1+, QZ7+7Y0, 7Y1+, 8T4
4H0 953 568 H	:	PR-GH0, GH1+, QZ7+7Y0, 7Y1+, 8T4

According to ebay I found:
Code:
A	=>	CCS/ACC
B	=>	CCS/ACC
C	=>   nothing
D	=>	CCS
E	=>	no CCS/ACC
F	=> 	CCS
G	=>	ACC, Lane assist,
H	=>	CCS/ACC, (steering wheel heating)

The lookup of PR codes:
Code:
8T0 =	no CCS
8T1	=	Cruise control system (CCS)
8T2	=	Cruise control system (CCS) electronic
8T3	=	Adaptive Cruise Control and cruise control system
8T4	=	Adaptive Cruise Control
8T5	=	Distance control plus cruise control
8T6	=	Cruise control system plus speed limiter
8T7	=	Distance control plus cruise control andspeed limiter (without follow to stop)
8T8	=	Distance control plus cruise control andspeed limiter (wit follow to stop)

7Y0	=	Without lane change assistant
7Y1	=	Lane change assistant
7Y2	=	Lane Departure Warning
7Y3	=	Lane change assistant plus lane departure warning
7Y4	=	Lane departure warning

GH2	=	Rear axle differential Torque Vectoring

It seems that if a module supports CCS it also supports ACC. Is there a way to find out what the difference there is between the type numbers A-H? Other than googling for parts and guessing. Also can I just get a module wich supports everything and disable the things I don't need?

Ok, so I did some more searching in parts databases.
I found for the A6 4G they only use the following codes
Code:
4H0 953 568 E => The one I have without options...
4G0 953 568 A => This one uses a coiled up cable => I don't think I need this one
4H0 953 568 G => This looks like the one I have now, but with the lane assist and CC
4H0 953 568 H
4H0 953 568 H Z00
I found an H which supports a heated steering wheel. Do all steering modules with their coils accept heated steering wheels? Or is there a limited amount of modules?
Just in case I want to change my steering wheel at a later point in time? Could somebody help me out, what module to get?

The best route is usually taking the factory installed module part number and checking the parts catalog to see what the direct replacement is. In this case that's 4H0 953 568 E (which was dropped in 2013) supers to > 4H0 953 568 H Z00.

Next, you want to make sure that latest number supports the functions you are looking to retrofit, both now and in the foreseeable future. Since 4H0 953 568 H Z00 is one of four possible Index or Color codes (i.e. 000, Z00, Z01, Z02) the exact number should be used rather than just the base H suffix. As far as I can tell 4H0 953 568 H Z00 fits 11/10 - 05/15 production cars with 8T1 (regular CCS) in addition to a number of other functions so it should be a safe bet.

Thank you Dana for the information. Just maybe a silly question, but how do I know what version I am about to buy? I found multiple parts with the H version, but I cant find a 000, Z00, Z01 and Z02 marking on any of those part stickers.

I got Cruise Control working. Thank you very much for the support. I just bought a 4H0 953 568 H. I got tons of errors at first, when I installed the module (Engine, steering, ABS, AC,etc.). When I copied the old steering wheel module code to the new module and added the CC option to the steering wheel module, instrument module and engine module (you have to turn off start/stop, otherwise you get an engine error after programming), most issues were gone. The only thing then left to do was calibrate the G85 steering angle sensor and teach the end stops. This process was clearly described in the Ross-tech wiki.

So thank you for now a working CCS :)

Can anyone provide the correct sequence of module coding changes that results in the successful switchover from ACC to CCS? I went through several modules (Engine [01], etc) and found the ACC references and switched them all over to CCS, as well as making sure that start/stop was turned off, as it also appears across several modules. I though I had it, but ended up with an EPC light that I seemingly could not clear without reversing all of the ACC to CCS changes I had made across all of the modules where I found it. My front end was damaged by an unknown animal jumping out of the dark and in front of the car on the highway a week ago, which took out the lower half of the grille and bumper on the right, unseating the ACC sensor. I really just need normal cruise to not be constantly adjusting speed over long drives on hilly roads. It is remarkable that this is not a menu enabled feature; there are a number of legitimate reasons to use CCS versus the very intrusive ACC.
