Hey guys im needing help. car has arrived with me after some one has fitted an airbag slip ring for the air bag light on, now the steering is heavy, yet the steering light is not on in the dash, im thinking its a coding issue,as customer says steering was perfect before.

Ouch, that doesn't look good. At face value, the power steering rack has failed. Verify powers/grounds are good for it.

Why was the J527 replaced? Where did the replacement part come from?

Before the Steering Wheel Electronics (J527) was replaced, was an Auto-Scan performed? If so, post a copy of that Auto-Scan here (click here and read section 3). If an Auto-Scan wasn't performed before removing the J527, then please see about plugging the original part back up and running a Auto-Scan and post it.

Hey I thought I replied to this. It was changed for the airbag light on. That is the original code scan from the original part as I refitted it. Thanks

Hi Mark,

I figured I'd reply here rather than the support e-mail. I believe the factory condition 16-Steering Wheel coding was likely: 5080040000

Since the steering rack (44-Steering Assist) has those rather nasty DTCs that Jef pointed out I'm not very confident that coding the new #16 alone is going to help much but please try my coding.

Are you sure 5N0-909-144-C is an appropriate replacement for 5N0-909-144-P ?

I cannot verify the part number however Adaptation channel 004 labeled Installation Park Steer Assist in address 44 is probably configured incorrectly.

I checked the part numbers of both racks via the chassis number of both vehicles. Thanks Dana I'll try that. Either way it has steering again. 😁😁. Thanks, don't know Wat I'd do without you bunch
