Hi JMR i’v check all fuse and wiring to fan they are all ok.just can’t get my head around why supply voltage malfunction try to do output test on the fan been refused by control module.

Check power and ground at fan module. Make sure you have good power and good ground. You can also test trigger wire see if ecu is sending signal out to turn on the fan. However You should be able to do so with output test or worst case scenario power probe that can do pwm signal like power probe 4. If your getting power to fan and trigger wire is ok and sending signal to fan its possible fan is faulty.

As others have said, you would start by checking the supply to the fan module.. they normally have a permanent supply (2 heavy wires red/red black positive and brown earth). put a good load (headlamp bulb) across it and measure the voltage.

However.. this is a mk6 polo ? so.. not sure exactly what setup this uses but I wonder how the engine ECU knows that there is an issue with the fan module voltage ? there may be a CAN bus or LIN bus connection to it if its able to report a fault.. and that would explain the output test failing. what happens (i.e. what fault codes occur) if you disconnect the fan module entirely ? if it shows loss of communications or not present then it may very well be that the module has intelligence and it may be just faulty.

If there is A/C, what happens when you turn it on.. does the fan start ?

Hi styleres and EuroX I’v finally got around to doing the tests yous said to do today everything work down to the connector to fan no fuse gone did the headlight bulb test voltage was great disconnect the fan module and vcds says
4527 - Coolant Fan Control Circuit 1
P0480 00 [039] - Electrical Malfunction
Took fan out check the wires all where ok put power to fan nothing happen no fan movement so I take it down to broken or faulty fan control module. I’ll just replace it with new one..thanks for guidance really appreciate it help

I suspected that be the issue. Normally if you do output test and fan does not run its a bad FCM/Fan. I think in this car FCM is part of fan motor assembly. I don't wanna say its common but I have seen fans fail on a number of vag vehicles over the year more recently now then in the past.

Hi Just a update before I order a new FCM/FAN and your right EuroX it is part of fan motor assembly.I disassembled the fan module and found it had pin from a connector on the inside disconnect it was the power supply so fixed it and everything is working perfect.was able to do a output test fan working 100% now thanks guys for all your help
