Hi VW family, I hope you are all okay. I have owned my VW Touareg 2011/12 for over 4 years now. The only issues I have had with it throughout my ownership relates to the Air Conditioning unit. When it works, it is not as powerful as many AC systems usually are. The blower motor has died 3-4 times. Literally stopped working and I had to replace a few times. Recently, the AC would turn on and then off again. It would even come on while the engine was completely off. Finally, it died off and never comes on. I screened it with the VCDS RT software and came up with several fault codes although this one stands out (Auto HVAC -- Status: Malfunction 0010). I really need your help guys ( any help ). Has anyone else experienced this?. BTW, I live and drive it in the Caribbean which is predominantly a hot place but I doubt that that has anything to do with my sustained predicament.

If this were my vehicle, I'd break out the wiring diagram I downloaded from the erWin website and I would look for something in common with all the flap motors. With nothing in front of me at the moment, I would be guessing you have a ground problem. Check wiring at the ground studs..

Could it be a fuse?

Thanks Bruce. I am trying to purchase a subscription so I can download the wiring diagram. My VW is a European RHD version but I suppose I will be able to figure out where the connections will be anyway. Sorry I am new to this but what do you mean by 'Ground Problem' and 'ground studs" ? Have you ever dug into the wiring of a VAG car? They often make connections to the body of the vehicle to connect to (-) or ground side of the circuit rather than running a wire back to the engine compartment and to the battery. They weld a stud the body steel and connect to the steel. While this works, it is also often subject to corrosion, abrasion and so on. When the refernce to ground is not truly a good return path, then you might see problems such you are exhibiting.

I also suggested you check the fuses.. you may not have power (+12) for these motors. If the fuse is good, could there be a relay that has to send power to these motors? Again, something in common to all of them. It is not likely to be the control module even though it is in common with all of them. The control module controls each motor individually... the WD will show that.

It is likely to be a wiring issue... IMO

By the way, the link I sent has listings for North America and rest of world. I would hope you could find your vehicle in the rest of world section.
