Hello this is my first post and will try to I will try to follow the sticky rules "JPPSG". Sorry it will be a very long post as I try to give all the information I have.

4. My engine quit while driving a couple months ago and will not restart. I originally pulled the code (and deleted it) with a generic scan tool and I dont remember the number just that it translated to low fuel pressure. I checked the fuel tank and it looked like water in the tank so I drained, cleaned totally dry and blew out the fuel lines with air. Then replaced the in-take pump and filter. Primed the pump several times using wires straight from the battery to the pump. This did not fix it so I replaced the HPFP (there were no metal flakes in the tank, filter or inside the HPFP solenoid hole) and bought the VCDS to properly prime the car. This did not fix it. At that point I took the car to the VW stealership for repair. After a month and several hundred dollars they told me the new HPFP I put in was bad. So I replaced the pump again and still nothing. If there was a fuel problem, I do not think there is one anymore.
I think the problem is in the Camshaft sensor circuit. I am new to the VCDS so I tried to start the car with a real-time log going. I selected the cam and crank RPM and cranked the car with the laptop outside. When I looked at the screen it showed 125 cam rpm and 0 crankshaft. I though it was showing the highest value during the start so I changed the crankshaft sensor and re-did the test. Later I realized how the logging works and assume the crankshaft was correct and the camshaft was wrong.
If I read the cam RPM it reads 125 rpm with the ignition on engine not running, when I try to start it it stays about the same up or down a few and stays about 125 after I stop cranking. The crankshaft rpm starts off at 0 and will go to about 260 until I stop cranking it and back down to 0. It seems obvious the cam should be zero, go up to around 1/2 the crankshaft and back to zero. I dont know how to insert the excel real-time log from the VCDS to show this. FYI it shows the the fuel pressure at around 300000 hPa standard is 280000 hPa. Could have saved about $1200 on pumps if I had known this VCDS feature from the start.
5. In-tank fuel pump is some Chinese job from ebay. Most likely causing the Address 17 fault in the scan. It is certainly pumping enough fuel to start, about 1 gallon a minute into a bucket. Filter is VW/Audi OEM. Both pumps were OEM/Bosch remanufactured sourced from RockAuto. Crankshaft sensor is another Chinese job from RockAuto.
6. I find it strange there is no fault for the cam circuit. I want to know what voltage and/or continuity should I get when testing the wire harness going to the cam sensor. And if it is possible to test the sensor, what numbers should I get from it.
