Hello, I recently cleaned my Throttle Bodies and MAF sensors on my 5.2 V10 and maybe by coincidence, had codes 2006/2007 for Stuck closed Intake Flaps immediate after this work. Checked vacuum lines etc. but nothing found.

Ran VCDS output tests: The Intake Manifold Tuning valve test (motor V183 tests fine). The Intake Manifold Flap Test Does nothing (no clicks, no nothing). Is that output test supposed to drive Flap Motor V157 ?

The V157 control arms can be moved manually. Is there a fuse dedicated to this motor? Read that it was combined with a cooling fan, but cooling fans 1 & 2 both test fine.

Tried a 142 adaption but get an "Error" message in block 4.

Any ideas where else to look other than bad V157 motor?

The red arrow pointing towards the right is locating the V183. The red arrow pointing up is locating the V157. Note that the green arrows point to the G336 and G512 sensors. Said sensor report changes caused by the V157 operation.

V183 or V157, what are you able to visually verify operation of?

Hello Jef and thank you.

I performed a Function test (only sequential output tests are allowed with VCDS here). The Variable Intake Runner Motor V183 (using the "intake manifold tuning valve control circuit" test) operates perfectly during the test. I am not certain, but the next test (called "Intake Manifold Flap, Bank 1) does nothing (no clicking, no movement). I am guessing that this test that is supposed to operate that intake flap motor V157 (and corresponding sensors noted) but I have been unable to get a confirmation from Ross-Tech technical support thus far and do not know what other operation or VCDS test might verify that fact.

Also: Completely coincidental I am sure, but I now have a EPC light with a low fuel pressure code and very poor engine performance. Started a couple days later.

Is it possible to undo the linkage from the V157 and see if you can then operate the linkage / intake runners? Is they are not seized up, it would appear at face value you have a bad V157 unit (assuming electrical paths for it are to factory design).

I can manipulate the runners manually, yes. My question is on VCDS can you confirm that the 4th. set of output test commands is supposed to operate that V157 Motor ( "Intake Manifold Flap, Bank 1")? And within VCDS can you confirm of there is another test or method to operate this V157 motor electronically? I have also tried to perform a "142" adaption in basic settings on Engine 1 or II CPU's and I get an Error message when attempted. Thank you !

Thought I would close the loop here in case anyone runs into the same situation. I did confirm that the VCDS sequential output test # 4 output test Intake Manifold Flap, Bank 1 (actually both banks) is intended to operate the lower flap solenoid motor V157. I ordered a replacement and installed it. Cleared the codes and performed an adaption 142 in basic settings (engine running) to calibrate this new V157 motor. All is very happy with the V10 now !

Hi bob,
I got the exact same problem: suddenly the MIL on and the stuck open and closed flaps.
How did you manage to get access to the V157 without taking all the admission out? That’s very tiny there…
