Misfires, is it a lambda sensor problem?

Hi all,

I,ve having misfire problems with my Audi 1.4TFSI 122HP 2013.
There are several things replaced and cleaned.
Sparkplugs replaced
coils replaced
injectors replaced
walnut blasting done.

the misfires only happens when the engine runs idle.
and the the engine light blinks for several times, and after that, the light is gone again.

Please help...

Nothing wrong with your English. ;)

Fuel trim looks good, the sensor values are just a snapshot at the time of the freeze frame. So you’ve changed sparks, coils and injectors. Where did you get them from?

Have you done a compression and leak down test on each cylinder? You may have a hanging/chipped/burnt valve or seat. Head gasket may be blown between cylinder 1 and cylinder 2. So comp./leak test next.

I agree, next step a compression test. When I have been to Holland I have always been very impressed by Dutch peoples English and when you ask, often they have never been here. The universal use of English has made us very lazy in learning foreign languages and many people even born here have a poorer command of it.

Haha, thanks for the compliments on my english.
I forgot to mention that the compression test had already been done. each cylinder approximately 14.5 bar.
So I thought, maybe because it's only at idle, and the car runs perfectly while driving.
So maybe the heating element of the lambda sensor, because the gases get colder during idle?

And the sparksplugs and injectors are OEM. The coils are ngk from winparts (online shop), but also tried others, without succes.

Try clearing fault codes directly in the engine three or even five times in rapid succession. Sometimes this resets things. I don't have much confidence it will work, but it doesn't cost much to try either.

Running it in Basic Settings 099 turns off the lambda control so the exhaust Lambda without trim can be measured.

I also changed some start/stop settings in the past.
and sometimes get the (automatic start/stop: system fault! function unavailable) in the screen between the speedometers
Could that be something causing the misfires?

Proceed:
1 - With the engine off, ignition off, plug your official VAG-COM VCDS cable into the
computer then plug the other end into your vehicle's diagnostic socket.
2 - Switch on the ignition then start the VCDS program.

4 - Click on " Adaptation - 10".

Running it in Basic Settings 099 turns off the lambda control so the exhaust Lambda without trim can be measured.

Uhm.... There's no "Basic Settings 099" on a UDS ECU, nor do I see an equivalent in this ECU.

the misfires only happens when the engine runs idle.
and the the engine light blinks for several times, and after that, the light is gone again.

would be doing a smoke test for a leak as this happens at idle, JMO. Trims with lambda a 1.00 looks spot on. -1.2LTFT, could go up or down depending on how it was run just before you stopped.

Car is in workshop for now, so i have to wait.
They say, it is because of the ecu. They ordered a new one.

ECU failure is very very rare and the absolute last resort.
I guess I would have liked to see them validate that in some way, JMO.

Hi all, an update on the problem. it turned out that the distribution was not on time. now the misfires are almost gone. The garage is now charging me a lot of research costs. but had read this through VCDS before they started the whole problem. Is it possible this wasn't showing up in VCDS? The garage says that the car may need a new crankshaft sensor, so that the car is completely misfire free. Can this also be ruled out via VCDS? thank you in advance..

That is suspicious as a valve timing error should have come up as a fault code, VCDS isn't responsible for generating the codes or data, it just reads it. Anyway, told you it wouldn't be the ECU, never is... except when it is!
