Misfires, is it a lambda sensor problem?

I can tell you that with my 1.4 TSI it really listens to the ecu FW installed, one FW causes a misfire on cilinder 4. While another FW version on the same ECU makes the engine run smoothly. This indeed can easily be the ecu doing funky things.

I could only suggest upgrading/downgrading your FW to eliminate it from the equation. Any decent tuner should be able to help with this.

Is there a way to finetune the timing of the distribution with vcds?
