2010 VW EOS No Power Steering

I have a 2010 VW EOS (VIN: WVWBA7AH3AV018239) and the power steering has failed. Code reader says code 778 Steering Angle Sensor (G85) and code 1309 Power Steering Control Module (J500) Implausible Signal. After reading around in several forums I learned that the 2010 EOS did not have the steering angle sensor in the steering column. So I assume the steering angle sensor is internal to the steering rack. It's my understanding that the steering angle sensor that is internal to the rack can not be replaced. I found an electric power steering rack out of a 2014 Passat. The Passat steering rack part number is 561.423.051.M. I installed it, but still no power steering. I recently read Dana's thread on the location and other info regarding VW steering racks (https://forums.ross-tech.com/index.php?threads/11654/). One section on the 2014 Passat steering rack says 5N1 part number steering racks with Component J500 do NOT support an internal Steering Angle Sensor. So does this mean the steering rack I have does not have an internal steering angle sensor or that the 2014 Passat does not support an internal steering angle sensor? If it does have an internal steering angle sensor, do I just need to get someone with a Vagcom to edit the settings? Thanks for any help!

Not realy, it's only a virtual sensor in the J500 modul of the ZF Gen3 steering rack .
Rdw lhd Passat use the APA steering rack (5N1) w/o intern G85. Rhd and nar Passat has a gen3 steering rack.

I've connected it to the car and the VCDS is connected and functional. When I try to go to 44-Steering Assist it says no response from controller module. Can't get a scan since there is no response from control module. Does anyone know what I need to do to enable the steering angle sensor in the steering rack? Thanks for any help.

Address 44: Steering Assist Cannot be reached

If it can't reach the -J500, there is no power steering and there is also no -G85 (because it's a software-modul inside).
Have you checked the wiring and plugs to the -J500 on the steering rack?

Yes, I did a continuity test between the connectors (3 wires signal and 2 wire power) where it plugs onto the steering rack, up to the 3 wire connector just under the left headlight, and to the 2 power wires (one to fuse box and one to ground). All were good. I'm not sure about the 3 wire connector from there as it goes into a large bundle wiring harness from there.

I figured it out. It was a power problem coming out of the fuse box under the hood. No power on the post that the power steering main power lead attaches to. Evidently, there is an 80 amp fuse under the aluminum plate. I've temporarily moved the connection to the main power lead coming in from the battery. I've got to figure out how to replace the fuse or get another fuse box. Thanks etz2k.
