MQB and Vehicle Data Learning (VIN)

Hi,

Some modules on MQB platform are not component protected so in fact there shouldn't be a problem with VIN changing when you try to replace oryginal module to another (the same or similar model)
For example

Front Sensors Driver Assistance System MQB_MFK 5Q0980653E

Could you confirm that VCDS is able (latest stable or beta version) to update VIN(s) in non protected modules?

Feel free to post an Auto-Scan of the vehicle in question and clarify your customer status by updating your user profile accordingly. Once that's done, we can probably take a closer look at this.

I'd like to change 5Q0919294B to 5Q0919298A to enable 360 Park Assist and auto-parking capability like in Golf Mk7
Don't worry about module 13, trying to add ACC but it is much harder (swap codes)

Sorry Raynold. This is not the VCP support group. You are not asking about capabilities of VCDS. You are asking for very vehicle specific questions that we are only willing to attempt with our licensed registered users. Seems to us that you have everything except information which you seek to pull from us without buying anything from Ross-Tech. Your request goes beyond what we are willing to answer in a pre-sales forum.

We know that once we supply the information you desire, the sale is over. You will find a way to use your VAS clone, your VCP, and other tools to which we know you have access to implement that which you hope to do. We have answered as much as were going to answer now.

Sorry Bruce but i'm looking for a reason (see http://forums.ross-tech.com/showthread.php?3509-MQB-ACC-retrofit) to buy VCDS AND *i'm asking about VCDS feature(s)* about i'm not sure. And you're right i'm asking about very specific features which not exists in other products especially VCP or ODIS.

In fact i planned buy VCDS (via local importer) this week but due to lack of feedback, decision is postponed.

Only information i want to get is: *Yes, VCDS can work with MQB and write VIN* (i'dont care how and i don't want to know at this moment, google is still open so i can close answer related to other cars eg. what channel and what to do on that channel. Again i don't expect answer like that but confirmation it will work vith MQB/Leon 5F).

The answer is very important for me, if VCDS + interface *will not do what i want (or i ask for)*, i will return it.
I don't care about interface clones because with it i don't get support on this forum and i will not be able to return it (not mentioning about future features, new functions and 100% compatibility with car and vcds. we are talking about newest VW platform so compatibility is a key). Vehicle Data learning is one question. i suspect i will have tons more.

Lets summary: Question is not about HOW (to do smth) but about compatibility or ability.

Raynold, I do not believe that any diagnostic tool will be able to change VINs in the control modules. I'm not sure that the factory tool can do so with it's diagnostic capabilities. My guess is that to change VIN, one needs to do it through a re-flash of the module.

I am not aware of any function within our VCDS that would let one change VIN on any module whether it be MQB or other platform.

Reflash not touch OTP and FAZIT area. Imagine ECU or cluster after reflash will be virgin ? No way

If for example, it is because a new ECU ([A5]) is installed, and there is no VIN.
Then my guess would be, the VIN is transferred after a calibration process is performed and not by the diagnostic equipment as such.
But it is only an guess, I have never tried it.

As far i know it depends on the module
Eg. 5Q0919298A has no VIN-coded (empty field), and working perfectly with leon 5f (Park Assist with OPS)
another module - 5Q0907572A (ACC Radar) has been adopted to my car (VIN is the same) during removing component protection, without any calibration (guys at the official workshop didn't have board fo calibration)

Probably only way is scan CAN transmission during ODIS operations and it is not guarantee of success due to possible encryption of data...
