Hi Everyone,

We have just got a Facelift Audi a1, the steering is very light. I am trying to change the sensitivity under module, 44 - Steering Assist, see below:

44%20-%20Steering%20Assist%20module_zps5bicct2e.jpg

however, it requires security access / workshop code. Anyone know the code to use?

thanks in advance

MJ

Hi Everyone,

We have just got a Facelift Audi a1, the steering is very light. I am trying to change the sensitivity under module, 44 - Steering Assist, see below:

however, it requires security access / workshop code. Anyone know the code to use?

thanks in advance

MJ

Exactly which adaption channel are you trying to change?

I had a similar post:
MK7 GTI 44-Steering Security Access works but doesn't work

The security access code enabled me to change some channels, but not the channel for "Support power." Searched all over for another security code that works on "Support power" but alas couldn't find one.....

Deactivating assist for "straight line running" may help accomplish what you're after. IMHO it improved steering feel for very small steering angles which were just off-center.

Or perhaps changing to a different mode may help you, i.e. changing from "Comfort" to "Sport" may be possible in a different adaption channel than "Support power" which sounds like a scalar applied to the power assist of the particular mode which is active.

@GTIspirit, thanks for showing an interest in my thread - I've just been back onto the car to get some screen grabs -

I'm looking to change 3 of the adaption channels, Straight line running, Characteristic curve of steering assistance & Support power - All 3 adaption channels need security access, all of the following codes fail - 40168, 19249, 20103, 15288 - with the error 35 and there is a message about waiting up to 10mins before trying again - Screen grabs below:

Any suggestions, help or advice would be greatly appreciated - I'm using the latest version of the software -Hopefully someone can suggest the correct security code - Thanks in advance...

If you just click YES VCDS will handle any workshop coding changes needed

I'm inclined to agree with you, but in my case when I click 'YES' it generates the error 35 access denied , hence my problem. :banghead:

Anytime I change coding in a module I always click 'No' to retain values in the module. Sometimes modules reject codes if you don't change the values but I prefer to be stealthy. What happens if you click 'No' instead of 'Yes'?

How about clicking [Cancel] and trying a non-zero Equipment number?

Hi Uwe, thanks for the quick reply, these are the codes I've tried so far to no avail, 40168, 19249, 20103, 15288 - I think I'm going to have to wait for Ross-Tech to update the software to add in the code.

Normally I wouldn't have been so fussed about the code, but the previous A1 had the steering made stiffer and the new one's steering is just super lite to the point I really don't like it. In dynamic mode the steering is a little weighter but still too lite for me.

Strange, I didn't get that dialog box about "uninitialized control module." I made the change with VCDS 14.10 and first entered the security code 19249 on the main screen of module [44] Steering, then went into the adaption menu and was able to deactivate straight line running. I did confirm that with security code 19249 I could change the following:
-Characteristic curve of steering assistance
-Straight line running
-Driving profile switchover

Not sure what could cause the different behavior, ZFLS vs TRW, Audi vs VW, NA GTI versus EU A1?

Just been out to the car to try this, Selecting NO, also generates a fail but with a different Error. See here:

Running out of idea's, does anyone know if I can escalate to Ross-Tech? Cheers MJ

I can't take credit for this SA code, and we do not have any personal experience with that particular modification, but feel free to try 17580 at your own risk. Any feedback you provide would be highly appreciated.

Hi Dana,

Just tried tonight, WOW - that is a correct code my friend 100%.

Once you go via security access, I tried and changed the following settings:

- Characteristic curve of steering assistance (Changed to Dynamic) makes the steering a bit stiffer.
- Straight line running (Changed from Active to Non Active) - Didn't really notice much different in the half mile I drove, then reverted back to Active!
- Support Power (Changed from 100%) - Now at 80% gives the car much more feel when putting it into bends, etc.

I left Support Power at 80% and then when back and set Characteristic Curve of Steering Assistance back to Driving Profile Selection Button.

Very happy with the modification, and I would like to thank you very much for passing on the code.

Any further feedback? Happy to assist Sir, you are a gentleman...

Glad to hear it worked for mjsaville. Sounds like changing the Support Power channel will accomplish what I want. Just tried the code 17580 on my 2015 GTI and unfortunately it doesn't work on that model. :(

GTIspirit, I agree with this:
Not sure what could cause the different behavior, ZFLS vs TRW, Audi vs VW, NA GTI versus EU A1?

It could be a combo of all of the above.. but thanks for the NAR feedback!

Oops, just looked at the avatar - apologies
No worries! We appreciate the feedback and that happens often. Uwe updated my profile picture right around the time Jason added that comment :)

Now that we know it works I need to credit NEtech. If it didn't work I woulda considered that an anonymous source LOL. All joking aside we are always reluctant to offer up semi-experimental SA codes for Powertrain controllers if the super powers they may unlock are unknown.

He tested this on a 2016 VW UP! recently with SW: 6R1 909 144 AJ | HW: 6R1 909 144 E | EPS_TRW_ALow 312 3132 details if that happens to help.

Hello guys, I have tried to adjust steering support power to 80% but is seems to reset itself to 100% after some time. I used the access code that was provided on this thread by Dana, and settings were accepted at first but it always resets. Any ideas on this?
