I am trying to program a new key from Volkswagen to my 05 Jetta, but when I try to login to the 25-Immobilizer with my SKC, I am told login code not accepted, but I am able to login to 17-Instruments with the same SKC.

Can I program the key in 17-Instruments?

Or what am I doing wrong?

I figured out how to program the through 17, but I am still curious why I can not login to 25.

Also, is it possible to program the key via the mobile version?

Because some guys in white lab coats in Germany decided it should be so. Seriously, that's just the way cars of that generation work.

In principle, if you have the PIN code for the car and a could connection for VCDS-Mobile, it should be doable.

Ok, so it is probably not that I am doing anything wrong, its just "life" lol

I just don't see where/ know how to use the HEX-NET with a mobile device to perform the key adaptation. Also, I can not get HEX-NET to connect to 46-Central Conv. to adapt a key fob to this vehicle. According to http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/vwmkIV.html#46 I should be able to connect. (it has power windows)

Basically the same as you would do it with the classic version of VCDS. The primary difference is that after connecting to the Instrument you will need to hit [Functions] and then [Cloud Functions] buttons before you can do the Adaptation.

Also, I can not get HEX-NET to connect to 46-Central Conv. to adapt a key fob to this vehicle. According to http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/vwmkIV.html#46 I should be able to connect. (it has power windows)

Since VCDS connects just fine using the HEX-NET (as evidenced by the scan in the first post of this thread), I would expect VCDS-Mobile to connect as well. Maybe do an Auto-Scan with VCDS-Mobile as well and post the results?

I am not sure how to connect to the cloud function. I have looked for instructions and requirements on connecting to the cloud, but everything I have found has been very vague. So, I'm thinking that I must just not be looking in the right place.

Can you guide me to the right place?

I should be able to get to the Mobile Auto-Scan this evening.

Do you see anywhere in your Autoscan address -25?
That is your very simple answer.

It actually does answer on 25 if you go there directly, but its answer is "BITTE ADRESSE 17 EINGEBEN".

That's German for "Please use other door". :D

I found the details about connecting to Wi-Fi.. http://www.ross-tech.com/hex-net/faq_6.html

I had some trouble setting the security key, but I think was doing something wrong because it did not appear to ever store the key for the Wi-Fi network. I will have to try again this evening.

Here is the mobile scan.
Indeed, 46 is conspicuously absent from that scan.

I will note that the CCMs in Mk.4 cars are know to get in a mode where they refuse to talk to anything. Can you double check with regular VCDS to see if you can still get a session with it? Just access it directly: [Select] -> [46-Central Conv.]

I can not get VCDS to connect to 46 using the usb cord on my regular computer. I keep getting "No Response from Controller" but I can connect to several others 01, 03, 15... and so on.

Is there "another door" I can use to program a key fob?

46 is a module that's never really powered down and never really goes to sleep (it's always listening for the remotes).

Try rebooting your 46. You can do this in one of three ways:

  • Disconnect the car's battery
  • Pull the relevant fuse(s)
  • Disconnect the 46 module from the car's harness

I tried to connect to 46 directly on another Jetta I have, and I was not able to connect to it either. Here it's the scan from it, notice it connect during the auto scan.

I tried to connect to 46 directly on another Jetta I have, and I was not able to connect to it either. Here it's the scan from it, notice it connect during the auto scan.
...
I will try disconnecting the battery later today on the 2005 Jetta and post my results.
It really does happen. It happened on my Passat, with a similar CCM. It just stopped communicating at all, for no particular reason, between one scan and the next. A power cycle restored it.

Success! Disconnected the battery for a while and that took care of not being able to communicate to 46. I have programmed the new key and key fob to this car.

Now, I have to address another problem I am having with Infrastructure mode. I can not get hex net to save the Wi-Fi key. The only way I can connect to the cloud is to make my Wi-Fi unprotected. But I will start a new thread for that topic.

Thank you for your help!
