2006 VW GOLF STEERING ANGLE CALIBRATION FAULT, SETTING

Hi again everyone, ok so i have mk5 golf on a 2006 plate, the customer changed his own battery and now has a steering angle/calibration fault.

I have attempteed to follow instruction on how to re calibrate the sensor yet it doent seem to want to do it.

i went into chanel 44
read the codes(listed below)
i then went into coding and entered 40168, which was accepted to login
i then went into basic settings to chanel 060 for the angle sensor
from what i have reserched, i turned the steering all the way to the left, held for 5 seconds
all the way to the right and held for 5 seconds
drove the vehicle turning the steering 10degrees
then left to right again

ive done this over 10 times now and the ight will not go out

i have read the live data and the angle sensor justs reads zero

So, am i performing the calibration wrong or is it a duff angle sensor

Also there is no assistance to the steering

Hi Tony

We have a similar issue on a mk5 Golf Plus.
Ours was jump started and now showing error codes for (G85) steering angle sensor and 02546 steering stop limits no basic setting.
We have replaced numerous parts and still not able to carry out the basic settings.
But for your information

Basic settings for steering angle sensor (G85) in ESP front Mk60 are carried out in (03) Brake electronics. Only MK70 are carried in in (44) steering assist.

Try the basic settings but this time logging into (03) brake electronics and see if it will adapt.

hi ewe thank you for the link, i followed the instruction and it still wont calibrate, when i select 060 it simply says error....and te degrees dont change when reading measuring block. However it does also have an abs fault, with a wheel speed sensor. would calibration be stopped due to this fault needing to be rectified 1st. or is it looking more likely to be a duff sensor...apparently this all happened when he changed the battery, but ya know how unreliable customers can be
