Hi, just a quick question when I try to perform the basic settings for oxygen sensor it just keeps saying test on and keeps running. How long is this test supposed to run because I was holding accellerator and brake for 10-15min and it still did not complete.

Its a 2010 Audi a5 2.0tfsi vcds version 14

Yes Apr flashed, I have no codes and have completed this once before but its just sitting at that screen. Exclude the failed/incomplete for catalytic converters. I am only looking to see how long the test is for on the oxygen sensors. Here's image of readiness.

If you have a not deleted or altered any of the emissions related equipment, you will most likely need to road test the vehicle for 5 - 10 miles at highway speeds (above 50mph), include a couple key cycles and repeat as needed until Readiness monitors have been set or until fault codes are present.

- If after 2 or 3 drive cycles there are no codes and the Readiness monitors have not set, talk to your tuner.

- You can also post an Auto-Scan, maybe there is an ECM update for your vehicle.

. . . by the way, did you try to use Basic Settings [200]?
- If not, try that and follow the instruction messages, basically you will need to Press [On/Off/Next] to turn on BS and then press/hold the brake pedal and then press/hold down the accelerator pedal, ECM should control engine speed and the value block field will count down as the tests run and complete.

Hope this helps.

Drpeter, I have driven over 200 miles with a few key cycles. I have tried the basics settings but there's no script to follow so I have to go thru each channel manually and it just keeps running "test on"

And test steps still to be performed is 0

If, after several days and several hundred miles, you still get this:

20141125_101428_HDR.jpg

.... and no fault codes...

Then you really do need to talk to your tuner. Get them to flash you back to stock, at least for the time being..

- Agreed with Uwe, above, flashing back to stock will tell you a lot.

This is interesting, maybe you should post a before Auto-Scan, so we can have a look at a few things, and then see if anything changes after the flash back to stock, thank you..

Any faults stored? This can prevent readiness tests from starting.

no fault codes. codes(even though none were present) were cleared to reset adaptations and all readiness prior to this.

i will get the current autoscan today and post it up.

I spoke with APR and they suggest logging the vehicle and sending them logs. but on their support page what they show for values to log dont correspond to what i can check off. such as the block numbers..

aka the ones BOLDED. so what Block would this correspond to in Advanced Measuring Data? the other non bolded ones also do not match but I have found those blocks.

Code:
Vag-Com
Block # Description

001-1 Engine Speed

014-3 Misfire Sum

031-1 Lambda, Current Value

054-3 Accelerator Pedal Position

054-4 Throttle Plate Angle

101-3 Injection Timing (Median)

103-1* Current Fuel Pressure*

114-4 N75 Duty Cycle

115-3 Boost Pressure (Specified)

115-4 Boost Pressure (Actual)

230-1 Rail Pressure - Specified

230-2 Rail Pressure - Actual

-----------------------------------------

001-1 Engine Speed

003-4 ignition Timing

020-1 Cylinder Ignition Angle Delay (cyl 1)

020-2 Cylinder Ignition Angle Delay (cyl 2)

020-3 Cylinder Ignition Angle Delay (cyl 3)

020-4 Cylinder Ignition Angle Delay (cyl 4)

031-1 Lambda, Current Value

054-3 Accelerator Pedal Position

101-3 Injection Timing (Median)

114-3 Engine Load (actual)

115-4 Boost Pressure (Actual)

230-2 Rail Pressure - Actual

Also, Look at the readiness bits under Generic OBDII mode and compare. I've run into a few cars that showed different results in generic OBD-II vs VAG

Santos has a good idea, look at the OBD-II function on the VCDS tool, also look at [Mode-07, Pending DTCs]

The ECM on this vehicle should be a UDS controller and will not use [Meas. Blocks-08] where APR is instructing you to enter in the Group numbers.

- You will need to select [Adv. Meas. Values] button and from a pull down list you can choose the values needed to data log.

- UDS controller will have a bit different descriptions for these values and it can sometimes be confusing. With the Auto-Scan we will be able to see more and help you locate the specific values you are looking for.

As a remaper myself , I agree that in the end the Tuner can have you see whatever you want to see :( ... Comparing Generic OBDII reading is a good idea.

You can have tottally different figures.

ok i updated the first post to include the autoscan data.

if i understand correctly, the one block under advanced measuring data called current oxygen sensor control(something along that line) shows data as x.xxx Lamda/ x.xx mA, this should be the actual lamda value that I would be looking for to include in the datalog for apr's request?

again, thank you everyone for helping so far, i do appreciate this.

Thanks for posting the Auto-Scan, it does help.

The values below are the equivalent of what APR has requested for data logging, or at least I think they are, it is an educated guess.

Traditional MVB = Advanced Measuring Values
---------------------------------------------------------
114-4 N75 Duty Cycle = Charge press. ctrl.; spec. value [loc 28]

031-1 Lambda, Current Value = Short term adaptation of mixture formation bank 1 [loc 171]

By the way, I noticed in your Auto-Scan, the readiness reads differently than your readiness status on the screen-shot, did anything change (clear codes, try and set readiness)?

In scan = Readiness: 0010 0101
In screen shot = 0010 0001

Yes ecu was reset because battery was disconnected to do intake valve clean.

Thanks for posting the mvb to advanced measuring data information. When I do the log and get a response from Apr I'll post what they come up with.

In the generic obd II there's no pending codes either.

I do have a question regarding that screen though. How come the mode for oxygen sensors is greyed out?

- Perhaps that [Mode 5] is not available for this ECM configuration.

- You are referring to this page, right?

correct, that and Mode 6. was just a side question lol.

also, Peter did you receive the email i sent regarding the output test information?

I did figure out the "basic settings" part. I was clicking go and immediately holding the brake pedal. this caused the "Aborted | Safety Reasons"

I found out after clicking go, wait for module to say "Not Running | x" then hold brake and accelerator. this was after seeing the mode in advanced measuring data for "Operating Instructions"

- Okay, so it does appear that not all OBD-II functions are supported by these controllers. All questions are good, "Judge a man by his questions rather than by his answers".

- Yes, I was looking into this... not finding much.

Glad it was something simple and good information to know! Thanks for posting it.

Let us know if we can be of any further help..

So slightly off topic but still related.. I found out why exhaust fumes are entering the car... I took the trunk liner out and was gonna foam bomb all the crevices, then I noticed on drivers side where the foam padding is was black.. So I looked at the vent.. No flap!.. Looks like it melted a bit :-/..

Here's drivers side.

And heres passenger side..
