Probably (for probably, read absolutely guaranteed) due to VW resetting my van I've noticed the lack of a rear door "open" graphic when it is. Shows all the other doors being left ajar accidentally (or intentionally) and wondered if anyone knew how I told my van I have 5 doors or what I should be checking.

Also, if anyone has any other cool codes I can put on/remove entirely from the van I'd be grateful. Seat belt warning would be a good start.

Connect to the Central Electronics and go into Measuring Block group 005. This shows you live readings of the "Door Contact Switches". If the wiring harness is good, then I would hazard a guess that you have a bad door latch itself.

Let's go back a step and assume the wiring isn't necessarily the issue in the first place. Have you made any modifications to the body control module (coding)? According to your VIN you got 2 manual sliding doors and a regular rear lid (instead of double wing doors). Which ones of the rear doors is giving you trouble? Both sliding doors and/or the rear lid?

The T5 sliding doors are known for electrical issues, especially the electric doors. Reading between the lines, it seems that all your sliding doors are giving you troubles which would be unlikely for a wiring issue - I am thinking more coding'ish or something VW did when they had the car last. You may also want to check with an older Auto-Scan if they updated the BCM software, in some cases updates will need some post-update changes and if those were not made issues like yours aren't exactly uncommon.

Fun fact about the T5.1 (pre-facelift) & T5.2 (facelift) terminology, the German T5-Board.de forum came up with that - internally VW refers to the facelift as T5GP where GP stands for "Große Produktaufwertung" ("big product enhancement"). Anyway, this 2014 is a T5GP/T5.2 and not a T5.1. ;)

I normally search for T5GP or 5.2, but most of the time I don't get any hits unless I go 5 facelift - I also have a T5 2008. Odd bunch of possible names, did not know the history though, cheers.

So, I have two manual sliders, left and right, plus the tailgate at the rear. It's the tailgate that's not showing on the dash display when it's open. Both sides are fine, as are the two front doors too. No mods I am aware of, but I do recall seeing something somewhere in VCDS about number of doors? Anyway, I've not changed anything.

Glad this thread has attracted a T5* officianado.

Hey, I would be one too, if VW actually sold 'em in NAR. But they don't. So I'm condemned to eternal suffering in a 2001 T4. With a 24V VR6. It stinks to be me. :cool:

Can you get us some snapshots from Measuring Value Block 006 (from your BCM/#09) with the rear lid open and closed? It is quite possible that the door latch which contains the contact switch for the rear lid is the issue - the mentioned measuring values should shed some more light on things. Based on how you described this, the number of doors aren't likely be the problem. Your BCM coding looks good, I checked with another 2014 that has a similar setup.

BTW: You said no mods, the car seems to have an aftermarket radio/nav though which appears to use a CAN-adapter that reads and writes data from/to the Infotainment-CAN. Is that correct?

That would be correct yes. I though you meant mods I had made within the software, sorry. It's a Sportline (UK) Kenwood head unit with the CAN adaptor. I'll give those readings a go shortly and come back to you.

I ought to check before going any further that I have described the thing correctly and that it is indeed supposed to let you know when it's left open?

I think it's called the DIS where the image appears, centre of the dash.

Also worth pointing out that the interior lights stay on in the vehicle if the tailgate is open, as that's the only way I've been able to figure out it wasn't closed correctly.

I'm back and a few things have changed to the van, didn't know whether to open a new thread or bring this one back to life.

Never did get to the bottom of the rear door problem and don't know if Sebastian is about.

So, what's changed. New head unit (hated the Kenwood), back to an actual OEM one, bluetooth module added and a replacement Right Connections module for the towbar fitted (could have been a faulty one causing all the problems before).

Log file below shows a few errors, hopefully just errors that can easily be fixed in that I suspect some of the bits have not been coded to the van. Presumably easy to rectify. Had a look, wouldn't even know where to start if I'm honest. I believe a couple of the open circuit ones are where I was testing the wiring I had bastardised for the microphone.

Only problems I am aware of are the tailgate open icon still not appearing, voice commands don't appear to work at all & phone button on MFSW seems to mute the head unit.

Actually, tell a lie, there was more to report.

Flattened the battery recently whilst playing with VCDS for too long without running the engine and since then a load of the DIS info has gone. No longer can I see phonebook, radio stations/media playing or whatever else was there before.
