Indeed, but if IMMO is intact in cluster and OP replaces ECU with working unit, there wouldn't be any deleted immo.

Correct but he would then need the other pin code from the ecu he is installing and not just his existing cluster pin.

050 at that point should be done at the engine computer and not the cluster because if it is, it will flip wrong data into the cluster.

0x01-16 + ECU security access PIN then 0x01-10-050 + OLD PIN in current cluster.

050 goes in both directions...........

.....

OP says that he has both:

I need to replace my ecu but am finding it difficult to find out if it can be done with my Vcds. I have the pin for original and replacement (used). ...

True but if something was right the thread wouldn't exist...........

Wait times might be needed after login for channel open.

What kind of suggestion are you looking for?

We have yet to see what your immobilizer is showing in MVB 081.

VCDS is getting the VIN from your car somewhere, somehow.

In engine or cluster?

If engine, is this with a defeated ECU or a stock unit.......displaying the ID?

So as expected, it's still old-school, PIN-based Immo.

That means you should be able to swap in an ECU if you have both PINs, the one for this car, and the one for the donor car. In principle, these can be read from the cluster of your car and the ECU you're trying to install, if you have the appropriate "specialty" tools that know the the various back doors needed to get to do that. However, VCDS does not read PINs.

I have both pins verified by logging into immo immo 17, and by logging into 01 replacement (used) ecu however when I select adaption 50 when I put old pin and click on test the value changes to 3200 and malfuntion in the field above, forgive me I am trying to find the exact logs and am going by memory but the closest I can find is :Adaptation Channel 050:
Stored value 32000
Test value 32000
Immobilizer (Vehicle Data learning)
Malfunction Status

You're doing this in the ECU as follows?
Login (or Security Access) to the ECU first, using its PIN
Then use your Cluster's PIN in the ECU's Adaptation Channel 50.

Is your key matched to the immo in the cluster? I suspect a matched key is a requirement.

There may also be a 5-minute wait enforced somewhere in this process with that car.
