I think I broke R32ran...

During some "spirited" driving, the ESP and traction control was activated.

I parked for a while and then ever since, the right rear brake hasn't been working!

I've run the Basic Settings group 1 and bled the ABS under pressure through the 2 front brakes, then tried bleeding all the wheels - no bubbles etc, and bled heaps of fluid through both fronts and left rear... but nothing will come out the right rear!!!

I checked the junction under the floor, and nothing there either, which makes me think the ABS module has a blockage or fault.

Does that sound feasible to the collective clever clogs??? I haven't checked AT the ABS outlet to the right rear as it's difficult to get to, but I guess that's the next step. In my mind, the ABS is more liekly blocked than the OUTlet of the ABS block...

Any clever suggestions, of advice?

I guess if it's the ABS block, I *could* upgrade to MK60EC1 :D

Urgh... also - my garage floor has no shortage of brake fluid... and the paint on the concrete has been removed... and I need a new brake bleeding container...


note to self: Don't leave the brake bleeding container UNDER the car when you drop it down :D

Handy information to know:

MK60 Hydraulic units, that share the same "block" number... are the same hydraulic unit. The block number is stamped into the block.

I could have left the oriinal Touran hydraulic unit in this car, and just swapped the Electronics across - My MK60 4motion ABD unit has a 2054 block, as does the Touran original, and the A3 donor car I used. A VW repair block fits all units with the same number :D

So I actually have 3 hydraulic blocks to pick from.

My next move, is to strip the car down to access the ABS, remove the ABS unit, and replace the Hydraulic unit with the Touran original. I'll swap the ECU over, and flush ALL the lines, drain the system and refill from fresh...

... but possibly not until I take some time of work :D It doesn't much look like fun!

I installed a spare 2054 Hydraulic block (actually the unit originally installed in the Touran), fitted my R32 4motion electronics module/motor and away it goes! Perfect - no blockage. It appears the right rear inlet valve was activated (to close, it's a normally open valve), and has jammed in the activated/closed position - not allowing fluid to get to the output.

The fluid pours out happily with the pressure bleeder attached and I ran the module basic setting to bleed the hydraulic unit.

YAY!
