Hi All,

Brief story: I’m in the process of upgrading my stereo to an aftermarket one. I have ended up removing all interior accept the dashboard; laid down some RCA cables from the front to the rear and have put everything back together. No standard Audi wires were cut, and all connectors are connected.

Having not driven the car for a while, ABS, ESP and Red Brake symbol appeared with three audio beeps when engine was started. I’ve replaced the old battery with a new one and all faults were cleared. However, I keep getting the following faults appearing which I'm unable to resolve – the faults in question are Engine, ABS Brakes and AWD.

Can anyone shed some light, on how to resolved this please?

Hello,

I believe you fall into category #2: https://forums.ross-tech.com/showthread.php?2601-How-to-get-Verified

If you purchased that HEX-USB+CAN directly from a distributor (rather than 2nd hand) please fill out this form including "Please check my forum status" in the 'Notes or Special Instructions' field of the form. After doing so we can flip you status to Verified and move this to the Car Repair Support section.

Next, it is possible the 03-ABS module is failing but I'd re-check the battery connections, connections at the Golf Mk4 style fuse panel on top of the battery and inspect the wiring near the ABS module itself to rule out a flaky connection or rodent damage (wire chewing) that may explain a voltage drop causing 65535.

Hi Dana,

I've now registered and waiting confirmation from ross-tech.com.

The fuse panel on top of the battery is fine, as well as the terminals, clean and free from corrosion. Also, the ABS module cable has not been tampered with, but I will check again.

There does not seem to be much information regarding fault 65535 - Internal Control Module Memory Error and how to resolve it. I really hope my ABS module is not on the verge of dying!

Thanks.

If it's any help, here's the original scan before the battery was replaced. Please ignore faults with Airbags, Instruments, Centr. Locks, Inter. Monitor as these were relating to me removing the interior headlining.

Please excuse me for jumping on the end of this thread, - especially as my first post.

As the thread has been dead for nearly a year, i thought it might be ok.

Did you find the cause of this issue with the car?
I`ve been having the same issue intermittently - most notably when the car has been sat over night or for a few hours. Having driven the car for about 1/2 hour, the ABS light goes out and all appears normal.

Ive replaced all fuses associated with the ABS, replaced the battery as this was suspect and cleaned up the earth points under the battery and the one on the scuttle in front of the ECU.

Im beginning to think there`s a wiring issue in the loom feeding the module, (a lot of responses to 63353 fault code suggest this) especially as my rear washer jet pipe has been leaking.

Did you find the problem in the end?

Welcome to the VCDS forum.........

Isn't this most likely a faulty terminal 15 reset & either from back feed, relay related, poor ground or ignition switch?

Please JPPSG & post an auto scan ..........

Thank you for your reply. I didnt realise i had had a response to this until yesterday evening.

I`ll post a scan later today when im back on my laptop.

Having done some inspection on the wiring loom this weekend, I have got solid 12v + on both permanent power feeds and good grounds too to the area under the battery.

Ive looked at the wiring diagram and believe PIN 4 is the ignition feed into the plug. I`ll check this later today and report back along with the code scan.

So far i have:

Replaced all fuses- 2x 30amp on top of the battery and the 5amp interior fuse

I have checked and have 2 good 12v+ permanent power feeds
I have good earth points having cleaned up both the stud and the terminal ends
I found my Haldex earth strap like so many had come apart so i have replaced this today

Where im slightly confused is that i have 2 12v+ terminal 15 feeds with the ignition on. Both of these drop with either the ignition off or with the interior fuse removed.

The only wiring diagram i could find that related to the car (A3 8L was as close as i could find) was one with a 25 Pin J104 module plug. Mine appears to have 44 pins, so i`m not 100% sure i should have two ignition feeds?

Any ideas. Im now wondering if it is an internal module issue.

Sounds like you need to create an account on the EU Audi erWin website, buy 1 hour access and download all the documents for your car (enter the VIN to get the correct ones) which will include the wiring diagrams.

Hi All,

I didn't realise a year had passed! My ABS Controller is completely knackered now and I will be sending it off to a company called http://bba-reman.com to be hopefully repaired. I've managed to source a second hand one from eBay, which I've tested, just needed to be reprogrammed and the steering wheel sensor needs to be re-calibrated. I'm not looking forward to brake bleeding :(

Cant you just split the ABS module in car & without swapping entire manifold to save work operations?

Update..

Ive now replaced the ABS module for a Second hand item and the 65535 fault has been rectified.

I also replaced the second pressure sensor on the master cylinder AND the short tail loom to both pressure sensors as i had a fault stored, but i`m still getting the `electrical fault in circuit` code. The rest of the loom that runs along the bulkhead looks to be ok.

Interestingly, i only had this fault on the rear g214 pressure sensor when the car went in to have the pump changed, however since the rear one has been changed, i now have the fault on both the 201 and 214 again. Both sensors have been replaced this year. When i coded the replacement module at home Prior to the pump being fitted, the only code was the G214 fault, so i know this is not an internal issue with the Module as i would have seen both sensor faults then.

I notice that one of the possible solutions on Ross Tech Wiki is a pump bleed. My garage that i use were unable to pressure bleed the entire ABS system (only doing the master cylinder) as VCDS crashed during an update. As the wiring was the only other thing that was interfered with when the sensor was changed, could this issue be the fact that the sensors are not seeing the correct pressure in the system? Although ok, the pedal doesn`t feel as firm as it should under-foot. Both sensors are reading 194PSI in the measuring blocks.

The ESP triangle light doesn`t immediately illuminate when starting the car tending to take a minute or so before it pops up on the dash.

I don`t appear to have any visible wiring damage anywhere- most of the wiring looks to be hidden behind the bulkhead area anyway.

I see a lot of S3/TT videos with the ESP light illuminated on the dash. These sensors seem to be a common fault.

What's the RTFB say, this isn't a new auto scan, post one okay?

Did you verify for FOD yet?

I made an error posting yesterday. I thought i had started my own thread but i realise i jumped on the end of another users.
Thats what happens with just 2 hours sleep.

My apologies. I`ll start my own thread and post a fresh scan

apologies @rraghvani for jumping on your thread.
