Help understanding confusing Audison Bit DMI Long Coding instructions

I am installing an Audison Bit DMI in my 2012 A6 and cannot get it to work properly. I'll copy/paste the manufacturers instructions below, I have used VCDS for a while, but never long coded. Being honest, I do not understand the part of the instructions I made bold. I checked byte 3 bit 0 as they explain, and this activated the external amplifier. However, the radio does not work but the cd player still works. So I'm assuming that something in the area I highlighted bold needs to be changed. Can anyone give me some suggestions? I've been reading all of the wiki's and help tutorials, but their instructions don't make sense to me. Thank you!!


5. In addition to this, the radio, see entry 56, also needs to be coded and this is byte 3, bit 0 of the Long Coding string.
The coding needed for this can be seen in the following figure using the Long Coding helper.
Long coding, 56 radio should look like this:
01 = AM/FM EUR (02 USA)
01 = DAB (fixed value) (00 sirius USA)
03 = Operating Mode
01 = External Amp (02 if the amp is inside, e.g.: not B&O)
00 = Sound Profile
00 = No info
00 = No info
00 = No info
01 = Chassis
The setting for “external amp” needs to be 01.

Its an aftermarket module that plugs into the MOST optical cable that transfers the data for the factory entertainment system and provides a standard optical output. The DMI allows you to replace the entertainment system with an aftermarket system.

For reference: If I put all of the settings to stock, the car has no issues. My difficulty is getting the aftermarket DMI to function following the manufacturers instructions for long coding.

Yes, they were very workable but were definitely not familiar with the long coding at all; ultimately they said the best option is to find another Audi with the 3G entertainment system that has the Bose or B/O stereo option, and to copy the long coding for module 56 all bytes. When searching for information on this issue I found lots of posts similar to mine stating errors in the installation instructions, but unfortunately nobody has gone back to the thread to state what corrected the issue. I told the gentleman at Audison that, if I get it to work, I will screenshot all of the bytes for module 56 long coding so they can update the instructions. I have two friends with Audi's, but unfortunately one has the 2G stereo and the other is out of town for work for three weeks.

I'll get one up here shortly. The 20 minute MOST reset made dealing with Audison yesterday over the phone difficult, they're closed over the weekend so I have no restrictions.

So the 4th byte(Byte 3 as bytes start from 0) has to set 01.

For this, You select the 56 - Radio /// Coding /// Long Coding helper.

Edit: I noticed it says 56 cannot be reached, this is probably because of the MOST interface. I could removed it if necessary and repeat the scan.

Thank you. This is where I had to call Audison, I set this bit and it did activate the external amplifier. The SD card continues to work and will play audio, but the AM/FM/Sirius radio will not work. Just below the screenshot you took there are additional settings that conflict with the setting on my car. When I called Audison to clarify, they basically said that they are not long coding specialists and cannot help and I would have to contact the actual manufacturer in Italy.

Byte 3, bit 0 is checked, so you're good on that.

Except for an additional bit being checked in Byte 02, it matches their instructions. You could try un-checking bit 2 in Byte 2 to get byte 2 to match their instructions as well, but if that doesn't work, I think the next step is to talk to the people who make this aftermarket gizmo.
