New firmware update

I downloaded the recent update to 18.1.0 of the software and when I ran the test, it said I needed to update my firmware. I attempted to update firmware but, for some reason, the firmware update would not come through. I even left it overnight and noticed to progress in the update. My v2 now has a flashing red light on it instead. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm running windows 10, by the way, if that matters.

Start VCIConfig directly. There should be a shortcut for it in your Windows Start menu, like this:

Or you can find it in your main VCDS folder, like this:

Once you have it running, click the Update tab, and then the [Check for Updates] button.

I did that. I checked for updates. Said there was an update. Clicked download update. It seemed like it would make progress in the update. It would get to about 30% and then drop back down to 1%. I uninstalled vcds software and redownloaded 18.1.0. I then checked for updates again. I left it overnight and update never fully downloaded.

Unplug it from any source of power. Generally that would only be your computer, but if it's also plugged into a car, it would have to be unplugged from the car as well. Wait 10 seconds. Plug it back in.

Based on the OP's description of the problem, I think it is. I also think I have a high probability of match with an order that was likely a Christmas gift..

Please reboot everything in sight; the interface, your computer, and whatever devices that are between your computer and the internet. Then plug in your interface, start VCIConfig as described in post #2 of this thread, and see if it won't update.
