Can anybody help with engine 2.0 TDI CR (engine code CFHF) intermittent P0016 fault code?
I observe an interesting problem on my engine.
Engine cranks reliable when engine is cold. When I arrive home the engine is hot after any journey, I switch the engine off. When I want to start the engine again in a while after couple of minutes, engine cranks, but it stops itself immediately.
Then the specific fault code appears, see below. This story occurs just only when engine is hot and only sometimes. For example ten times no problem to crank hot engine, then eleventh attempt fails.
Cam belt was exchanged by authorized dealer two years ago.
Otherwise everything works fine when car is running, fuel consumption is pretty low as expected, idle consumption is 0,4l/hour as expected, power is very good and unchanged, no other problems appear.
Just only small suspicion, the measured value IDE00182 - Camshaft adaptation intake bank 1: phase position is between -2,5° … -3,0° what can be (?) slightly less then expectable.
Anyway, engine runs very very well, the fault code never appears when engine runs, but just after hot unsuccessful ignition.
1 Fault Found: 4096 - Bank 1: CMP Sensor (G40) / Engine Speed Sensor (G28)
P0016 00 [036] - Incorrect Correlation
Intermittent - Not Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear
Freeze Frame:
Fault Status: 00000001
Fault Priority: 2
Fault Frequency: 1
Mileage: 207299 km
Date: 2021.02.23
Time: 15:53:14
Engine RPM: 923.00 /min
Normed load value: 9.0 %
Vehicle speed: 0 km/h
Coolant temperature: 88 °C
Intake air temperature: 25 °C
Ambient air pressure: 990 mbar
Voltage terminal 30: 11.840 V
Unlearning counter according OBD: 40
Engine start: start synchronization: EPM_MODE_VERIFY
Engine start: start synchronization-Test_Program_Epm st Op Mode State t UBYTE: 33
Any idea what the last line of the failure description means? Any start synchronization test did not go correctly when hot?
It smels like any thermic dependent problem (?)
Many, many thanks for any experience, hint, recommendation ...
