Hi,

Is this a Roadster? If so I would suspect you have a water damaged J429-Control module for central locking (35-Central locking controller).

- This is located behind right side bulkhead/wall, below the convertible top storage area, on a mounting bracket near the amplifier.
- Check wiring connections too.

If this is a Coupe, the J429 is located on the left rear side, under the trim, check for damage too.

72 fault codes and no Part No. displayed is not normal.

If you replace this controller, beware of used, they could be damaged too.

Hope this helps,

drpeter

Are the results reasonably consistent? You don't need to run an Auto-Scan each time, just access the module directly. For laughs, try version 12.12.3 as well.

Have you tried re-booting that module (or even the whole car)?

Thank for your interest :) It is a Roadster

Yes the results are constant.... I also have no comms with the Engine Module (!) as you can see in the autoscan.
No matter how many times I access the -35 Central locks the DTC`s are the same , coding etc cannot be changed..

Weird thing , is that the locks work normal, lock unlock with the key ,windows up and down etc.
Looks like it is a common Fault afterall , I have researched some forums . 72 DTC`s usually means fried from corossion Central locks unit as you suggested..
But why the locks work and the windows and everything ? :)

About the 12.12.3 is it that different from Beta ? I use that if it is more stable :)

Also what does Rebooting mean ??? Clear DTC`s ?? Or something else. ? Remove battery ? I tried it :)

Since its Immo Defeated

Please unplug the cluster and see if there is corrosion at connectors or the factor for not carrying the COM to the engine ECU.

Verify the CCM/Central lock 0x35 for water damage and when in the in VCDS cluster 0x17....... see if it sees the engine ecu or other controllers in advanced measuring blocks 125 channels.

Default or reboot means power down and disconnect battery and do capacitor discharge of system.

Also consider a recode of the CCM/Central lock.............

Hi..

But why the locks work and the windows and everything ?

- I have had to repair a lot of these Roadster TTs for this same concern and it just depends how they fail, some the locks do not work, others there are
that have a ton of fault codes and all is working fine, sometimes the interior lights fail to work.

- If water damage is found be sure to check the drains on the sides of the convertible top storage area, they travel from the drain
trays and they end in the front of the rear wheel housings.

- The rear window seal is also a common water leaking area too.

Also what does Rebooting mean ??? Clear DTC`s ?? Or something else. ? Remove battery ? I tried it

- Disconnect the controller and wait about 15 minutes or you can disconnect the battery and wait.

About the 12.12.3 is it that different from Beta ? I use that if it is more stable

- Yes, the current version 12.12.3 is located here:
Current Version of VCDS
12.12.3

The Beta version can be found here:
Beta 14.2

The difference is the Beta version will usually contain new features and functions that have not yet been as fully tested, where in the Release version they have been.
