I lost driving info in LCD info system !

Hi. I tried too get Offroad display monitoring on my car. I didnot have the last code to activate as an option, soo it did not work. Tried too set it back to original. Now when i go in the CAR menu, i miss one option. I cant see how long i have driven or any driving information.
Look at pictures, i miss one option original. How do i get it back ?

Is this autoscan made BEFORE or AFTER you tried to recode things?

All changes you make in coding are stored in a folder of VCDS... so you must be able to restore old codings! Start by resetting the infotainment-system by pressing the power-button for 15 seconds... Infotainment-system will then reboot and start again!

This Auto scan is after. I have re- booted the infotaiment system, but same thing. Is the old settings in the VCDS system ?

In the same folder is also a log of adaptation changes - which may be very relevant in this case.

For the obtuse please. My VCDS folerr does not contain CodingLog subfolder and the Debug subfolder tells me to ignore its file. Do the above instructions mean that coding data are only saved and subsolders created only if actual coding changes are made?

No, the sub-folders are created during installation. CodingLog and AdpLog files are created in the Debug sub-folder when you make Coding and Adaptation changes.

Uwe: with the greatest respect and with no malice intended - why is Readme.TXT file retained in the Debud sub-directory in current SW release versions?

From your explanation of its original purpose, I understand why it was created. But since then, the files in this folder have taken-on a much more meaningful (and I suspect more "main-steam") function for VCDS users.

Is it heresy to suggest that perhaps the words in the .TXT file might be a tad incongruous with how the CodingLog.CSV and AdpLog.TXT files are used in the 21st century - maybe?

I have restored all compass codes to NOT ACTIVE.... The automatic close when it rain did not work, changed back. But what have i done thar removed the Driving Info in the screen ? everything works fine in dashboard.

@Hallaise : Hi. I suspect that you have .CSV files associated with MS Excel on your laptop and that is why your AdpLog records are tabulated in the fashion in your post.

I'm not sure how my forum colleagues might view this, but I reckon that this makes the information mighty difficult to read and to understand.

As a suggestion, right click on the AdpLog.CSV file in MS Explorer and choose "open with" option. Then select "Notepad" . Then modify your post above by selecting the "Edit" tag, then "select all" (in Notepad), then use the copy-and-paste facility to re-enter the data between the code tags .

^^^@Hallaise: Hi. hmm.......... without intending any offense, I'm not sure what your objective was in making the changes that are supported by the records above! I can see that you have tried the auto-rain close tweak in the BCM and the 3 x channels for the off-road monitor tweak also appear in the AdpLog data. But there are a total of 5 x channels that have been changed in the hex5F module!!

Anyhow - as for a way forward, I've distilled the data in your post into a more readable format in the MS Excel file which you can find here. I suggest that you download the file and view it on you PC, rather than on dropbox.

To explain my spreadsheet - it contains 2 x worksheets containing the AdpLog and CodingLog data respectively, I've stripped-away any superfluous data from the Ross-Tech files and I've organized the information by the following order:

For the AdpLog data, I suggest that you CAREFULLY change each of the adaptation channels in the list for the hex5F module to the earliest "From" value - this should restore the MIB to factory settings.

For the CodingLog data - Again for the hex5F module - here's a comparison of the earliest "From" and the latest "To" long-code strings from your data:
