On this 2001 TT, the radio was put into safe mode, I have the code, but I can not get the radio to display "1000" so I can enter the code. Is there a way to use VCDS to reset the radio? Or, does anyone know what combination of buttons to press?

Have you tried cold-booting the radio?

You are talking about disconnecting the battery and connecting the cables for a few minutes, correct? Yes I have done that.

That section of the owner's manual is missing! Everything I can find on Google, does not work/is for a different radio.

Press [FM] and [DX] same time, until 1000 is showed, release buttons.
Enter code with "Stations" buttons 1-4.
Press [FM] and [DX] same time, until SAFE is showed.

There is no dx button, the following picture is just like the radio I have.

Around the world, the Audi Concert was configured differently for different regions, but I think code removal was the same physical buttons on the faceplate. My concert had a 'TP' button for traffic reports, and I had to press that with the RDS button.

With yours, try pressing FM2 and RDS together, if not, try RDS with other buttons. I seem to remember the two buttons to press were right next to each other.

I have tried FM2 and RDS several times but it never opens the code mode. I have tried holding combinations of a lot of the buttons but no success. Is there a way to do it with VCDS?

If you see the link from Sebastian, it should be TP(S) and RDS
Have you tried that ?

I am at the TT right now and I have tried both of those button combinations again. Nothing has worked. When the radio is in safe mode, it's there a way to confirm that the buttons are working. For example, are any off the lights on the buttons suppose to light up while or after being pressed?

Try SCAN+RDS, press and hold 2-3 seconds. If that works and you can enter the pin code, press and hold these buttons again to accept the pin code

I'm moving this to General VW/Audi Repair because it has nothing to do with VCDS and sure doesn't belong Product Support.

Is there a way to use VCDS to reset the radio?

I was hoping that someone works say that there was and how to do it, but that has not happened..

Sorry, I missed that. No, there isn't.

Concert Radios are quite buggy though, and we've seen many cases where they need to be "reset" with a cold boot, but you say you've done that.

So... I was replacing some vacuum lines on the TT today, and someone came by my place to buy a battery I had in my shop. They wanted to make sure the battery was good before they drive all the way across town to put it on their car to see if the battery had power. Therefore, I pulled the battery out of the TT and installed the battery I was selling. Started the TT to show it was a good battery and sent them on their way. I put the origanal battery back in TT and just to amuse myself, I held FM2 and RDS... then "1000" appeared... now, the radio is unlocked!

So a cold boot fixed it after all?
