First off, I am very new to using VCDS and am learning car repair as I go. I tried to search for these fault codes already but found no applicable solution. It is out of warranty so the dealership is out.
My front AC vents haven't blown air for a month or two. The defroster wasn't blowing either. I scanned for codes and cleared them. Gave the AC another test-run and the defroster now blows, but the AC vents are still a dud. I have the erWin manuals, which lead me to think it's the 'Air Distribution Door Motor V428' (interchangeably V426?). Did another scan (see below) and most the same codes came back - open circuit and stuck actuators.
Problem is it's located under the dash and I would have to take out the instrument cluster and steering wheel to access it, which seems intimidating. But how can I make sure it's this motor that needs to be replaced and not just a loose connector, or ensure that the issue is not located somewhere else? Are there any steps that I'm missing so far?
