hi guys, Ive recently fitted a new steering angle sensor to a Audi A4 2010. i carried out the basic setting for the component and all is good an that side of things but the controls on the steering wheel dont work i the fault code says.....Wednesday,04,February,2015,12:54:15:23183

VCDS > Select > 16 - Steering Wheel > Coding - 07 > Coding Assist

Select the cars options and you should be good, generally the coding from the old module (let's assume you saved an older Auto-Scan as you should) can be used as a baseline for the new value.

thanks sebastian lets assume i didnt save the older auto scan :o (i'm new to the system) how do i find the right codes to input in?

There are only 8 bits in active use (in byte 2) and they are all documented. Each one corresponds to an option that may or may not be installed in your car.

and also how do i fid any codes ive saved in the past??

Look in your Logs sub-folder, typically C:\Ross-Tech\VCDS\Logs\

Use the [SAVE] button often. ;)

Ive found some files that Ive saved previous but sadly not for this particular car

Ive shipped this one out to a dealer this time but im always learning for next time thanks

I really wish that Angel hadn't deleted his post above so you could see how easy it is to code this particular module. His post contained screen-shots for each of the three bytes (two of which are always 00). However, since they're his screen-shots, I won't "steal" them by re-posting then, nor I don't have an example of the car in question to generate new ones.
