Wondering if it's possible to disable the door chime on a MK IV Golf. The car was t-boned yesterday on the driver's side. The door closes and locks, but the chime wont stop. Thanks in advance!

"Modern" cars definitely get it from the locking mechanism.I don't suppose it's as simple as bypassing the courtesy light switch on that door is it (so the car thinks the door is closed)?
Or do modern cars pick up something from the locking mechanism?
