OEM genuine only.........

I have to agree. I've tuned many LS1 and LS2 etc.. and especially when it comes to adding forced induction, choice of mass airflow sensor is very important!

picture of pressure sensor part # 036906051C.

I got the passenger(right) side windshield wiper off, and have moved the wiper cowl out of the way a bit so that I can peek in there at that sensor and it's related hoses. Havent found anything suspect yet, but I will keep looking.

I would use atomized glycerin "vapor", not smoke from burning rags and oil.

But that's just me. :D

Actually was thinking of this one:

well..new problem...

got stranded cuz the key quit working. key in and key ON...Engine Start button doesnt work, cant start it by turning the key either. no gauges on, no MMI booting up, nothing. it wont even display the odometer etc..it acts as if no key has even been inserted. i had a brand new battery for the key fob in the glove box, and the one in it was less than 2 weeks old...so not sure if the battery is the problem.

I finally figured out the if I insert the key into the ignition and THEN tap lock or unlock, it immediately springs to life and the MMI comes on, the gauges come on. Vehicle can be started right up.

hmmmmm

This is exciting, did you check the Kessy if it's dripping yet & the antenna feelers which are very sensitive or D2 current track as per WD using VCDS blocks?

Im sorry, but I am going to have to search and read up because I dont know what a kessy is or anything bout anetnna feelers. I take it I can search the component locations in the PDFs I got from Erwin> I will look!

BTW I reset all the modules one by one and now the key works every time, but not the Engine Start button(?)

and now the lock/unlock buttons do not work for locking and unlocking using the remote.

before it would work at distances of less than 5 feet

I dont know what a kessy is
It's the control module that shows up under "05-Acc/Start Auth." in VCDS. It's the "master" module for access to the car as well as for the immobilizer. It handles all "negotiation" with your keys, whether you're outside the car wanting in, or whether you're already in it wanting to start the car.

ah I have done some searching and when trying to look up diagrams on ETKA for the Q7 I have to use the Touerag, either way...I found this diagram showing some locations I might find what I am looking for:

I got this from ETKA here:

https://volkswagen.7zap.com/en/usa/touareg/toua/2007-478/9/909-909000/#2

It looks like #4 in the diagram above is near the shift lever. Maybe it is something I moved or did something to effect the Kessy module(#4) while removing and reinstaling the MMI control board a couple weeks ago and is just now manifesting itself?

The Engine Start button originally when we bought it did not work at all.

As I recall from the first day I bought this car, I had a generic scanner (this was a couple weeks before I actually had VCDS from Ross-Tech) that told me there was a code related to the Immobilizer:

"P0513: Immobilizer Incorrect Key (1299)"

The original thread is over in the "General VW/Audi Repair" section of the ross-tech forums. That thread is found here:

https://forums.ross-tech.com/showthread.php?17732-2007-4-2L-FSI-w-rough-idle-P0102-P010C-Low-MAF&p=157739&viewfull=1#post157739

We just lived with the fact that we had to use the key physically in the ignition lock cylinder to start the vehicle. After me replacing the MMI Control Board and resetting all the fault codes, The Engine Start button mysteriously started working sometimes.

The Engine Start button used to work, but most times it would take a few seconds to actually start to crank...like there was a delay in the communication or something. Now as I said, the Engine Start button doesnt work at all.

I am guessing that the main Kessy is #2 in the diagram?

"control unit for remote control for central locking and kessy (access and start)"

Please spend $35 and get proper repair information for the car you're working on.

I already bought the $35 24-hour subscription and downloaded every PDF related to the vehicle I was just having trouble finding it in the PDFs I downloaded because I was on my phone. I was just using it as a general guide since the vehicles are so similar. Much of the time that I have to work on this vehicle is just before or just after work before I have daddy duties cooking and driving kids around LOL. It's tough but I make it work! LOL

I did find the kessy module near the shifter:

It did seem like the connection was quite loose like I push the connector in further I think.

I put everything back together and did a full auto scan. I will have to get it off of my laptop and post it from there. I am on my cell phone currently.
