Hi.
I got running gear failure on my T-reg 2012 7P.
The rear end is stuck in high position.

This is the exact same problem that I have right now. I suspect mild weather with wet snow packing all around the drivetrain and suspensions, followed by extreme cold made the suspension system freeze. That way it became to much friction for the compressor to change the ride hight. Thus blowing a 40 amp fuse under the cauge cluster on the left side of the steering cullomn. Ordered new fuses. Left the car in a warm garage to dry up. We'll see on Friday 21 if we got lucky.

Hello,

I believe your suspicions are correct, Volkswagen has a Technical Service Bulletin (from 2011) that suggests to "Install the repair kit for the drier" for this concern.

Self-Leveling Suspension Inoperative with Error Message in Multifunction Display

It states the following:

If the air suspension compressor ingests in humidity for a long time, the drier can get saturated (illustration 1, red circle). At very low temperatures high air humidity in the solenoid valve block can condensate, freeze and seize the valves. The self-diagnosis recognizes seized valves as "mechanical complaint".

Yeah this is so dumb ............

Why not a nitrogen bomb in car for a HP accumulator/bladder and a recovery pump that allows for no escape and a closed system with warning of leak of min PSI on reserve?

Additionally why not have suspension safety locks in order to park a car or do a base calibration & at full lock top, mid or low height & like any car lift for a qualified service or emergency operation position?

Car is started locks move to allow float and advise driver by an MIL + also have a manual mechanical key!

Oh yeah that would be too much money or using common sense, what was I thinking?

I thought 7P is nitrogen closed loop system.

Today got to refill Nitrogen to another T'Reg. Btw, it had same exact fault code description.
Not saying this is the case with this car.

PS!
This repair kit is meant for 7L T'Reg with external air compressor, not 7P with Nitrogen.

I can confirm that the technical service bulletin is valid up to 7L 2010/11 models. But not on the 7P from 2011/12 as these have a closed loop system. But the closed loop system may be filled with regular air or nitrogen. Nitrogen being the preferred one for the obvious reasons on how nitrogen is more stable when the temperature changes. If it is filled with air it will be much more vulnerable to moisture developing due to temperature changes. Next service I will make them empty clean, dry and fill with new fresh nitrogen.
