User manual has settings that this Touareg does not have.

Just for S&Gs, try 10896. That enabled setting of various adaptations on a previous generation of Touareg TPMS.

10896 does not work. I tried 20103 again and accepted. In adaptations I changed the setting from 255 to 260 and it was accepted and the new no was 4? I did all the channels and checked the cluster. Nothing changed. Checked on the radio and `Select tyre type` was added on the menu! Changed all the channels back to 255 and the cluster still no change but on the radio `Select tyre type` was gone.
I tried looking in ABS maybe but I don`t have security access code to see if something can be changed. The values are they not situated in ABS?

Resurrecting this thread, because, well...I can't find a more recent one, and I've unlocked part of the puzzle. (I am experimenting on my US-spec 2015 Toaureg TDI Exec.)

Through reading German forums like Touaregfreunde.de etc, I confirmed that in the rest of the world, there are two menu options for the TPMS that we don't get here in North America: 1) load profile and 2) tire type. You can see the structure for it in the controller's advanced measuring values map, and to some extent in the adaptation menu: the TPMS controller has fields for multiple sets of tires (6 I think?), and for each set of tires, there are corresponding fields for the front and rear axle values for each of three load profiles (COMFORT, STANDARD, and FULLY LOADED.)

What I really want is to switch between load profiles for a given set of tires. So far, no dice, but I've come up with a workable solution for one set of custom pressures.
  • As RyMan discovered, you can unlock the second set of tires by using adaptation to set a new value for the pressures in tire set 2. It warned me that the control module was uninitialized; I used the default VCDS values, and it let me set new values for all the fields I wanted to for tire set 2.
  • I was able to set custom values for all three load conditions in set 2. KEY POINT: The tire pressure values are in tenths of bar. (1 bar = 14.5 psi) For example, for 33 psi = 2.3 bar, enter "23". The lowest value it would accept is 1.8 bar (26 psi). Anything lower and it rejects with "value out of range." (I was hoping to set a profile for tires aired down to 22 psi or so for offroad use.)
  • The pressure line selection (Channel IDE03508) is locked at 2 (Standard). Attempts to change it to 1 or 3 resulted in "out of range" errors. So, no changing to "Komfort" or "Fully Loaded" just yet.
  • However... in the Car menu on the RNS850, under Settings, at the bottom of the menu, there is now an option for TPMS. Under that, Tyre Type is now an option... speed through the warning, and by selecting "Individ." the STANDARD set pressures for Tire set 2 become the new set pressures in the TPMS as displayed in the MFD. Voila! Bast scho!

So, now I've got two pressure profiles available to choose from; the "Standard" settings for tire sets 1 and 2. (It won't let me change the values for tire set 1, but I can make set 2 anything I want.)

Not full function as in Europe yet, but halfway there. I have a hope that by enabling Byte 5, Bit 7 "Reifendruckkontrolle (BAP Strecke)" in the long coding for 17 - Instruments, it just might unlock access to pressure profile selection, maybe in the MFD menu. Then again, maybe not. Worth a shot later.

I found more clues tonight in SSP 469 - Touareg 2011 Chassis and Four-Wheel Drive Concept. There's a whole section on TPMS in there and not the electronics SSP. :confused:

Clue 1: Settings on Pg 42: "If the vehicle has several different target pressures, they can be changed in the settings menu by selecting the tyre dimension. An additional target pressure can be added for custom tyres. In the settings menu, you can also select the vehicle load if it is relevant to the tyre pressure."

There's also a nice picture of the RNS850 TPMS screen showing an acitvation check box, load selection button, and tyre type button. Right now I've only got the tyre type button.

Clue 2: Coding on Pg 43:
"There are two coding variants:
● In the first coding variant, the tyre pressure monitor is switched off automatically when you start a journey if the wheels were fitted without wheel electronics. If the system has been switched off, it will be automatically activated as soon as it detects at least one wheel electronics unit on the vehicle (e.g. after a wheel is changed).
● In the second variant (USA only), switching off is prohibited by law."

Interesting... and probably means that the instruments bit has nothing to do with the lack of load profiles.
