Guys my next project is to try to fit the passenger Airbag Deactivation Switch in the glovebox of my polo.

I have the Switch and the dash light and looms but I'm wondering how easy would it be to code this extra feature in?

Has anyone in the UK got this feature from factory in there polo?or would it not matter if its LHD or RHD?

Any help with this would be great.

Hi iichel
I have the correct airbag module in mind 6C0959655J 10C (Brand New) but its the coding part that i would need to work out to get it functioning correctly!!!
And would it take the new module ok with the new switch and light plugged in or would it throw a fault up all the time until the correct coding is done?
Also how easy would it be to code it so the car was happy?

i can only speak for the 6R, where it is a matter of wiring up the switch and light, changing the module and coding it. I presume the 6C is no different.
it would throw up a 'module not coded correctly' DTC until it's coded correctly.

Sometimes there are also ‘registration’ pins to consider; which are plastic pins and associated holes in the plug coupler and socket on the module. These physically prevent the inadvertent connection of a module with different features. Please check for these as you may have to add a new plug coupler and pin extraction tools to your toolbox.

If you have to change the plug coupler, you have to be extra careful removing the old one as there are shorting connections within them to prevent static electricity inadvertently deploying an airbag. Please make sure you follow the Workshop Manual to the letter for disconnection and standing times for the Airbag components.

So all Airbags would work as normal until I find the correct coding that I need?

i don't know. i could very well imagine that the airbag unit will malfunction without proper coding.
