This Audi came in with no Speaker output. Apparently it was tinted and no the speakers don't function and there is no sound. The buttons on the MMI controls seem to funciton normally. I can see the speaker mute button and the mute button pops off and soon as I turn the volume dial. I tested power and grounds at multiple units in the audio system and found them to be ok. I completed system output testing and found .2V- 1.9V out of the speakers. That seem odd but I have never done an output test on the audio system. With the output test there still is not audio output. I completed a optical Bus test and all systems passed.
Any help would be appreciated

:facepalm: Well, not the first time a story like this stated out like that. By chance did the Sound System (J525) get wet? Should be located on left side of trunk area.

Did you do the Output Test on 47-Sound System? No *beeeeeeeps* and *boooooops* from that?

What kind of voltages do the Measuring Blocks show for the some of the modules here?

So Voltages on all the modules was 11.9-12.1V . Output testing gave me no "BEEEEEPS BOOOOOOOOOOOOOPS"

Then it would seem the Sound System is now a Silent System. :( Hands on inspection yield any wet clues?

Ok I think I have pinned down the issue. As you stated Checked for moisture and so I did..... I removed it and opened up the control module and found that it had a about a 3in diameter area with corrosion on the pins. I attempted to clean it off and re-install the module but I found no change.
I am going to let the customer know they will need a Sound System Module.
Also Thanks Very much for pointing me in that direction.

Same issue for 2011 Audi S5

Hi Folks,
I am new to this excellent forum and I am interested in this thread as I have no sound also.
I have removed and examined the control module in the boot on the left side and discovered severe corrosion in the module and a burnt pin on one of the chips thus no radio GPS is OK, reversing camera sometimes works.

The repair service advised that they can repair the PCB with a new chip with a two day turn around.
The repair guy mentioned that Audi have component protection in all Audi model 2011 and above, I have an S5.

He said that when the repair is complete I will need to take it to an Audi dealer to fix the security coding. I purchased the Ross-Tech software about a year ago and not used it.

So, to my query.

As I have the software can I access the module to fix the security coding matter ???

Jef seemed to know a lot about this fault.

Right, dealing with Component Protection properly requires a dialog with VWAG's servers and they won't give us access to that.

This is not VCDS related but if your repair agent can solder a board or component than why can they not extract and transfer an EEPROM to make your unit plug and play with same CP?

That would be my question ........... :rolleyes:
