thanks for replying, i forgot to mention it has a k&n air filter. also on the two dpf codes could it be a faulty reading on g450 or g451. are these codes implying to much back pressure or is the soot calculated. by the way the car drives normal.

so I split the flapper motor from the exhaust pipe and kept the connector on, while activating the motor it sweeps every time but it stays open about a 1/4 inch. i'm assuming that its normal. also its supper clean, where would I clean and what would I use for lube.

Yup the unit is like a TV .......it must go back before it moves forward.

Make sure the stepper motor can see its base set point and max deviation.

Yes it can be adapted in basic settings via pull down menu or direct channel in VCDS.

hi dana i'm having some trouble with an 2010 jetta tdi that i posted last week can you tell me which mvbs to look at. we alerady did a on the car dpf clean. it lights the the filter light and glow plug flashes about every 80-100 miles of freeway driving at 70mph which abouit 2300 rpm.

If the exhaust flapper DTCs returnd after it was cleaned/lubricated and Basic Settings 119 (Labeled Exhaust Pressure Control Motor (J883) Adaptation from the drop-down menu) was performed at idle I would consider replacing it. The old ones were revised so they shouldn't fail as frequently IMO.

Side notes; My experimental attempt to run Basic Settings with an old/faulty motor in a 2009 Jetta Sedan resulted in:

I hope that adds some clarity to a successful Exhaust Pressure Control Motor (J883) Adaptation in the Basic Settings function.


The flapper issue needs to be resolved because that function is critical for a successful regen but assuming it hasn't returned I'd look at MVBs 240 and 241 for DPF info. You may also want to verify that the front and rear pressure sensors are correct (not the wrong part numbers) in addition to evaluating key on/engine off and idle values in MVB 100.

If the DPF was cleaned and the actual values aren't excessive you may need to reset Long Adaptation channel 16 which is labeled Carbon Mass (DPF Replacement)

thank you for replying. i did run the output test i didnt set any codes. ill get the car back tomorrow and do another output test to see the reading.

Although Output Tests may run the flapper make sure you run the Basic Settings function at idle and give it at least 2 min while watching the binary activity.

will due. two more questions can anyone detect if this car has a tune? also i did the dpf clean on the car, there are three sensors from the top of the dpf unit. which sensor port are you suppose to use? i believe the top port is the ho2s and the other 2 ports are temp sensors

ok I did the test a few times in basic settings for the exhaust flapper no codes set and I could hear the exhaust build up when its on, also ive driven about 550 miles and no code for the flapper. I see that the one pressure sensor has been recently replaced. for this year is their a adaptation required for the pressure sensors 076 906 051 B

Ohh, I just noticed you cleaned the DPF! The label file contains additional information but you will need to use the Security Access function prior to heading off to Long Adaptation channels and resetting 015 and 016.

the particulate filter light came back on but with out the glow plugs flashing. the only code is 009315. while the car was idling i notice field 100.3 fluctuated between 0 to 255 and back to 0. field 68 .2 and .3 were near 100% steady. field 241.2 - 5.1g, 241.3 - 0.0. im thinking this pressure sensor is faulty? one last note 100.4 is always steady at =13mbar

Hey Bars did you readapt the PSI sensor .......?

Otherwise yeah seen bad out of box a few times.
