Hello,
I’m trying to help my neighbour out with a project he is building, he’s building a power generation plant based around a cut down 2004 VW LT chassis-cab fitted with a AUH 2.8 litre TDI engine. He needs a means of governing the engine speed, initially I thought we may be able to utilise the cruise control function, but the engine speed he requires to run the engine at in either 3rd or 4th gear is too low for the cruise control to be activated. My next thought was to utilise the “Working Speed Control” function (“Arbeitsdrehzahlregelung” or “ADR” as it’s described in the LT operators manual) which is usually used in conjunction with the Power Take Off option on the LT. To that end I studied the Current Flow Diagrams for the LT on ErWin and created a wiring harness which I hoped would stimulate the Working Speed Control function and allow us to set the speed of the engine without having to manipulate the accelerator pedal.
It doesn’t work but I wonder if, like the cruise control function, I need to recode the ECU to accept the signals from the ADR switch and wiring? Or maybe I have missed something in my wiring. Any advice to help govern the speed of this engine will be gratefully received.
I’ve attached an AutoScan from the LT
