If that's a question I don't understand?

Does MKV have SAI with a Kombi valve you can hold open while jumping SAI pump? Then block tail pipes and feel around flex joints?
If O2 zero out then I say same problem. Glad it's got you thinking about flex pipes. Kicked my A$$ for sure figuring it out.
The cats were separate from the down pipe with flex joints on MKIV so I got the whole dealer down pipe no cats.
If cats are part of pipe with flex joints I would think about welding new flex joints? Just get a real good type!!!! That's easier said then done...

Good Luck

Thanks again for the reply. Sorry, the "about the measure of it?" was just a turn of phrase.

I would need to check, but I'm fairly sure when I was troubleshooting the intake changeover solenoid I saw that VCDS could activate the SAI from the output tests in the engine controller. I'll give it a try - thanks for the tip!

On the MKV, the cats are indeed part of the downpipes

Thank for the pointer - I guess not all flex pipes are created equal!

Nor are other "things" apparently!

Don't get any ideas with the bearing grease either, unless your name is Bender?

Out put tests will only cycle the SAI pump on and off it will not run constant to pressurize exhaust.
You need to supply power to SAI pump with a jumper wire. Do this at pump or the big maxi fuse for SAI pump.
Earth or ground is constant to pump. And of course open Kombi valve if it's vac. controlled.

Jack got a link to buy those flex pipes?
Never saw one's braided inside.

Good Luck

Just to follow up on this one:
I got the flex pipes replaced (double braided!) and it appears the old ones were leaking a bit.
Car sounds better :thanks: but no effect on the fuel trim issue
I revisited the vacuum lines, replaced a few for good measure but I'm confident they are all good.
