Hi guys,

Excuse my lack of knowledge on this

Just wondering if anyone has successfully got the Mk7 R Xenon lights working with only the halogen to xenon adapter, the headlights themselves along with the ballasts and packs under the headlights themselves. No extra modules or anything.
I have a friend who has picked these up off a crashed MK7 R and was wondering if its possible with some coding to get the DRL's to power on. I have tried installing them and can successfully get the xenon low beam and indicators to light up but thats it, missing the high beams and DRL's.

Sorry if i have missed anything.

Dean: Hi. First, there is the legal issue regarding the compliance of the vehicle with the Australian Design Rules and the matter of glare to your fellow Aussies driving in the other direction (which could be me)? But I assume that it's your intention to also retrofit the required leveling system and washers.

So -isn't the task of the DRLs simply one of mapping the Pin numbers on the BCM from your cobber's halogen fittings to those on the 14 x pin connectors for the Xenon fittings? A short review of the WD should suffice for this exercise - I think.

Here's my synopsis of the comparison between the connector pin-out for the two types of headlight fittings. Please be aware that this is a "quick-and-dirty" table, so I urge that you confirm the entries by referencing the respective wiring diagrams.

I'm also intrigued as to how the range control modules for the xenon lamps will operate in the car - without a high level CAN Gateway installed.

PS: I also suspect that the different technology in the R type DRL fittings might be problematic for the lamp monitoring circuits in your current BCM, because it's probably programmed to expect incandescent DRL/Parking light lamps. So even if you wire Pin #4 on the 10 pin connector to Pin #12 on the 14 x pin headlight connector, you may still get a DTC and warning symbol on the dash. So some Leuchte programming of the BCM might be rquired (I think)

I have also tried this with the adapter that carsystems sell which is supposed to redirect the needed pins but doesnt look like it has at all. I have tried the luechte channels and can get the DTC's out which is great but cant get the DRL's or the Highbeams to load up. So it appears that the harness is incorrect or i might still need to change some pins around.

Also yes my intentions were long term to get the AFS and all necessary parts isntalled to make this 100% legal.
