Golf MK5 Dual Foglights?

Hello, I have a MK5 Golf (UK RHD) with completely stock tail light housings and standard bulbs and I would like to replace my reverse light housing with a LHD foglight housing and wire it so that I have two functioning foglights on the back of my car.
My reason for this is because VCDS has an option to use the rear fog light as a parking light and this feature is silly with only one foglight. Essentially, after doing this, I would have quad tail lights.
Am I correct in assuming I can just run a wire from the positive wire on the foglight to the positive wire on the reverse light? Or will this upset the CANbus system or blow a fuse or something?
I know shifting into reverse will also activate the foglight but a diode will solve that, so it’s not a concern right now.

I don't have any solid hardware/wiring advice however I do wonder what tweaking this coding position may do: LC,03,1,Rear Fog Lights (0 = 2 Rear Fog Lights / 1 = 1 Rear Fog Light)

Yours is currently set to 1 so unchecking Byte 3, Bit 1 is worth a shot IMO.

I suspect that dual RFL option exists in the coding for Golf 5 based models that may have been factory equipped using tail lights with fogs on both sides. That's a complete guess, but if correct, may mean that a factory wiring diagram for another car (perhaps a Skoda of some sort) may show an extra pin at J519 that you could add a wire to and run it to the new fog. I would firstly make sure the coding is accepted and observe the results before chasing that theory.​

Edit, I just noticed there's a 1 versus 2 Reverse Driving Light Coding option in the next bit. Those may need to be changed in pairs?

Thanks for your input. Doing what you said did nothing but cause a bulb out warning light and a fault code for the (non-existent) rear left foglight.

Good news though... I ended up connecting the foglight and reverse light negative wires together and now both bulbs light up in unison, exactly how I wanted. No fault codes or fuse issues (for now). I set the fog light to act as a parking light at 20% with VCDS which matches the other tail lights perfectly. Just gotta wait for my LHD foglight housing to arrive to replace the reverse light and my rear end will be beautiful and symmetrical.

And yes, I will have two blinding red lights lighting up when I am reversing but I rarely ever reverse on my daily commute.
