I acquired a former SCCA driven, REVO Stage 2, 2002 Gti 1.8t 5spd.
My generic scanner shows pass on everything relevant, EXCEPT - Catalyst Readiness. The ONE test that is a mandatory for pass
Things I have repaired/replaced in the process to return everything under the hood to OEM.
-Junkyard ECU from a 2002 Jetta 1.8t 5spd
-I paid a local tuner to do an "immobilizer delete"
-ECS stage 2 red ignition coils/spark plugs
-Replaced ignition harness (from the valve cover, up)
-Removed "WOT BOX" wiring.. (the harness is still tapped in under the dash, not plugged in)
-TechtonicsTuning 2.5" Downpipe/Cat. - Cat. is Magnaflow, confirmed to be CA legal and installed by a STAR certified SMOG shop
-New Bosch 02 sensor Post-Cat.
-Stock inlet pipe
-3Bar FPR
-Replaced 90% of the old, leaky PCV hoses.
Modifications remaining on the car..
-Turbo timer
-Some kind of door lock module that automatically locks doors/rolls windows up/activates alarm after the car is off. I believe it was installed so you can walk away and trust the the car will lock up as soon as the turbo timer is up and the car powers down..
-Seatbelt sensor harnesses are jumped/disabled/ so the car doesn't yell at you to put the belts on.
-Airbags don't work.. I haven't checked to see if they are even there.
Intermittent issue..
-Engine will die when the driver door opens. I believe there is an issue with the door lock module. After a little research, I learned that VW mixed a fuel relay/module in the door lock module for some type of security/safety reasons.. (dont quote me) The issue only happens when it rains so I haven't placed this up on my priority list and when it rains I make sure to turn the car off before I open/close my door.
I have no CEL. I just want to pass smog.
That's the beans.. here's the rice.
AUTOSCAN:
READINESS TESTS: (This test was executed after clearing fault codes.. the 02/secondary air readiness passed the next morning after a cold start/commute to work. cat readiness still is a fail)
