Hi guys I have got a Audi s3 2014 that is lost all sound from the speakers and now and again it will start working no fault codes and one shed any light on to what it might be ? software up date maybe ?

What an interesting situation - no/spasmodic sound and with a perfectly healthy auto-scan!!!

Purely based on these two solitary facts and from the perspective of entertaining possibilities, it doesn't seem (to me) that the problem is software/hardware related (assuming of course that there has been no tinkering with the engineering screen).

I hate to sound like an IT help-desk, but have you tried re-setting the hex5F module?

And have you looked at your the history files in the C:/Ross-Tech/VCDS/Debug directory?

No I haven’t reset the 5f module when you say reset you mean just a soft reset ? No tinkering has gone on as seen the car a few times and it’s also a friends car only me who works on it. Also no I haven’t looked at the debugging directory how would I do that and what would I be looking for please ?

OK- on my A3 8V which is a little later than yours, the MMI unit is reset by pressing and holding both of the upper toggles towards SATNAV and RADIO. Then press the center scroll wheel . MMI should then reset and re-initiate the start-up process.

According to Stemie.de, the earlier MMI units are reset by pressing the 3 x buttons below:

I'm not sure which process is used on your car - perhaps try the stemie.de instructions first


As for your second question - every change that you make with your VCDS cable is recorded in the directory in my first reply. Navigate to this directory on the laptop that you use to run VCDS and you should find 2 x files: Adplog.CSV & Codinglog.CSV. Open these files with an application like MS Excel. or notebook to read the history of your adaptation channel and long coding changes respectively.

Do not under any circumstances open the ReadMe.txt file - anyone who does this is instantly turned to stone (in true Homer tradition)!!;)
