Control Circuit for A/C Compressor - B10A9 29 [008] - Signal Implausible

AC worked fine Saturday, but when I got in the car Sunday all it does is blow ambient air. The AC button does come on and I was hoping it was the pressure switch, but VCD states otherwise. It appears the HVAC relays isn't getting a signal from the control circuit, but what actually controls it? Fault code is below, I can post the full log if needed.

Any info or help is much appreciated!

I doubt it's related, but when checking fuses yesterday I noticed my horn does work and neither does my footwell lights. Horn fuses were okay, swapped out with new ones to make sure. Not sure what fuse is for the footwell lights.

Hello,

Address 09 (BCM1) controls the AC compressor in this 4G chassis vehicle but we need a complete Auto-Scan in the current condition to see which (if any) faults are stored in this vehicle in addition to the current coding condition of your modules.

I located this scan from late 2018 when the DRLs were non-functional: https://forums.ross-tech.com/showth...s-(14-Audi-S7)&p=147666&viewfull=1#post147666. If you happen to have a saved scan after correcting the DRLs feel free to post both it and the current condition scan.

If I'm reading it correctly, it seems power isn't getting to this circuit. For the fuses to check, what does SD stand for? Would it be the driver, passenger or trunk fuse box?

D = Several fuse boxes in a car, they are identified with a letter, first one is A, then B and so on. This is location D
x = fuse boxes have numbered positions. In your case, positions 6 to 10 are in question.

Thank you Jef for this info, makes perfect sense. I go look in my owners manual again and see if the description and fuse sizes match up to what you listed for the driver's door jam panel. If not, I'll pull the knee bolster of and see if maybe there's another under the dash too. I'll report back with what I find out.

I've never been happier to see a popped fuse! Can't thank you enough Jef, if it wasn't for you I'd never have guessed there is a 4th fuse panel on the car.....one the owners manual doesn't list!

Ended up being SD7- 20 A - Vehicle Electrical System Control Module -J519- 30. My footwell lights and horn also now work again too when replacing this fuse.

Following up is the least I could do for the help! Totally a classic case of why everyone needs a full auto-scan posted! It was nice having AC this morning, Sunday and yesterday afternoon wasn't much fun, lol.

One thing I failed to state is the actual cause of the issue. I had noticed a few days prior to the fuse blowing that my glove box light was actually incandescent bulb so I swapped it out for an LED. Appears the LED shorted and what caused that fuse to pop. I put the bulb on the bench power supply and all it does is flicker and make a crackling sound. First time in 15yrs I've had a replacement LED make this sound.

I'm not entirely sure you have the same problem. Address 46 (BCM2) has an Intermittent 03123 DTC but 09 (BCM1) which controls the compressor activation does not. Speaking of Intermittent DTCs this scan has 23 of them. I would clear ALL faults and run another scan so we can see which return immediately.

I suspect you may need to shift your focus to P2753. Coolant damage in the harness would not be unheard of in an A8 and there are photos on this Wiki page which may be helpful.
