HEX-V2, xx uses remaining until registration

I have been using VCDS for a number of years from a mild enthusiast level HEX-USB+CAN. I have recently upgraded to HEX-V2 to fully support my 2018 RS3. During the first use, I saw I needed to register the cable (there was a reminder pop-up), question is, I followed the registration process, received my Transaction ID which I entered and clicked Finalise (English spelling ) registration, however I still receive the "cable needs to be registered in xx uses" pop up reminder .
It does show VIN used 1/3 which is correct.

Enter the Transaction ID again, Press Finalize.. button and after the Successful window, wait a few seconds, until your data is wiped out.
Go to Tab [Overview] and check it show "Unit Registered".
If not try again.

The window now acts as if I want to register it to another user (?)

just tried again, this again said registration successful, but no change the to the number of uses required before registration!!

So I tried again, this time registration failed

okay so I restarted VCDS, went back to the VCI config window and now after the previous message registration failed, it appears to be registered.
