Hi all, do you know if there is a VCDS setting I can change so that when I put the car into reverse it shows the parking sensor screen as default rather than the camera display as it does now.

Weird request I know, but I dont really find the camera a help and would rather have the traditional parking sensor display when reversing.

If I'm reading your post correctly, you want to disable the RVC entirely - is this correct?. If so, try removing the tick from the box on the long coding helper screen for Byte 19, Bit 4 on the Information Electr. module @ address hex5F. The current value of Byte 19 on your autoscan is hex96 - so the new value should be hex86.

Thanks, nah I want my cake....so I want to reverse the default action, so when putting it into reverse it just shows the sensor screen as the default. I still want the option to press the button to choose camera though should I feel a weird need to use it

Don't want to disable it ...just swap the options around.

^^^ Chris: OK, my bad (I always have problems understanding American accents ;)). I'm not aware of the "having cake" option for the RVC, but good luck with your search for a solution. Perhaps consider my suggestion as plan B?

How are you with UK accents though? ;)

I think it will be a the case of getting used to engaging reverse and then hitting the sensor screen button on the display each time. Much like getting used to disabling the auto start until I think it's worth it [long wait at red lights] rather than a 2 second stop at a junction.
