Hi, recently purchased a 2013 A5 B8.5 fairly cheap but required some work. I scanned the car with a standard code scanner and it showed no codes just after purchase. Car has been repainted but no obvious body damage/repairs and Car Fax also did not show any accident. It was very cold when I bought car and I cycled HVAC system but I probably didn't realize A/C wasn't actually working. It is now warmer and A/C obviously not working. Bought VCDS, came up with below error codes. I replaced the G395 sensor and still have the same error codes. New sensor was from US seller online, but likely not OEM. I have a non MMI car.
I have also done a fair amount of work in last month and most of it occurred before I got full VCDS scan on car. I have a lot of car experience to include HVAC install, various electrical work, engine rebuilds, etc. No problems on any work I did but it is possible that the codes didn't exist until after work.
I ran the diagnostics on the HVAC system and the compressor can cycle manually and does generate normal high/low side pressure results when it does cycle. Compressor will otherwise not trigger from dash control. Not sure where to go from here, the G395 sensor was super easy to swap but don't want to dig into other things if I am not sure whats wrong. Car runs great otherwise.
The work that I have done to car:
-replaced battery with OEM> did do the battery reset via VCDS. I had charged old battery several times prior to replacement but on slow rate, no jump or rapid boost.
-put a Sat Nav Backup cam system in. This required removal of most dash components to include radio/HVAC controls and video screen as well as glovebox and pass airbag. Nav system harness is a plug and play for existing harness and the system itself works fine. There are no other problems with HVAC controls/radio or anything else that I am aware of.
-put a new RS style front grille on, required removal of front bumper cover. No issues, it uncovers G395 sensor but I did the sensor exchange after bumper done and it is really easy. Bumper cover is likely original, lots of scratches on bottom and I didn't find any evidence of body work or repairs when it was off. I don't believe it has been repainted. I replaced the grille as the old one had peeling paint and a crack.
-spark plug replace, air filter, cabin air filter
-bluetooth mic/lights/homelink unit above rear view mirror. Just popped old unit and replaced, all components work fine.
-had drivers seat reupholstered professionally.
-replaced entire convertible top storage space liner assembly. Works fine now.
I found a TSB about 2011 (but not 2013) with these codes and suggested a problem with wiring being pinched or cut from central convenience module to G395 sensor. Not sure if that is even related. Not sure how to test sensor either, it could be I just replaced with another bad sensor as G395 goes bad often from what I read online.
