OK, just to finalize this (although it isn't fixed) ... I sold the car today for $2500 ... someone needed a car before the 19th.
The car had two issues when sold ... there's a leak in the A/C system (probably the O-ring seals on the A/C hoses that I should have changed, so the recharge did me no good) ... and the troublesome Airbag door crash sensor issue that I couldn't resolve (more about that later). I notified the buyer on both issues, explained the history, and gave them a printout of the final VCDS scan showing the faults. The car had those issues when I purchased it.
Concerning the Airbag Crash Sensor fault ... I pulled the Airbag Control Module back out ... unplugged the connector, and checked resistance between terminals T75/69 and T75/70 for the DRIVER'S door crash sensor ... and T75/71 and T75/72 for the PASSENGER'S door crash sensor.
The numbers were as follows ...
Drivers ----- T75/69 to T75/70 = 161.7 Ohms
Passengers - T75/71 to T75/72 - 26.5 Ohms
Initially, I thought I had found the problem ... but then I remembered that the DRIVERS door had the updated 1K0 955 557 B sensor installed, the PASSENGERS door did not, it had the old 1K0 955 557 A sensor installed.
So I just checked a "B" sensor with a connector with two 3" wires ... 157.4 Ohms. Then I checked an "A" sensor with the same connector ... 26.3 Ohms. THEN I installed an "A" sensor back into the DRIVERS door (so both doors had the same sensor) ... and checked resistance again ... about 26.5 Ohms for both Drivers and Passengers sensors.
Conclusion: The wiring is fine for BOTH door sensors ... the Ohms difference is in the sensors ... NOT the wiring.
But ... the icing on the cake was when I put everything back together ... then checked the airbags with VCDS ... NOW I was getting TWO faults! ...

010 - Open or Short to Plus - MIL ON
01222 - Crash Sensor Side Airbag; Passenger Side (G180)
010 - Open or Short to Plus - MIL ON
You've got to be kidding me! .. what's the deal! I don't know whether inserting the test pins in the plug sockets is causing the plug to make poor contact for those circuits ... or what!
I gave up! The guy really need the car, and everything else worked great. He's well aware of the airbag faults.
Here's the final VCDS scan ... notice I upgraded to a 2008-09 2.5L CBTA ECU and a 2008-09 "HE" TCM to match the ECU (about $120 total including disabling the ECU Immobilizer). I can tell you for a fact the the power increase from 150HP in the 2005-07's to 170HP in the 2008 and newer 2.5L engines ... seems to totally be in the ECU changes.
After I installed the 2010 2.5L engine ... after driving it, there seemed to be no change in performance from the old 2005 2.5L engine. But after driving the car with the 2008-09 ECU ... MUCH better low-end response ... and MUCH better performance over-all!
Even though the airbag sensor problem was not resolved ... thank you guys for all your assistance!
