As my mirro folding on lock/unlock is no go, i wondered if there was any way that the power to the windows and mirrors could still be enabled after i open the door, so that if and when i forget to fold the mirrors, they would still work.

SO, after going into 09, i found that the bit (4) that would be unchecked to make this happen was already unticked..

Am i missing something or should i be ticking other boxes in relation to this?

Interestingly, my dealer enabled staging on the instrument cluster, however when i found the channel in the adaptations and i clicked it, it said "ERROR: channel not available".

Therefore, my thinking that a lot of settings are still hidden somewhere is still in the back of my mind!

Thanks

The instrument sweep is possibly under 'indicator celebration' further down the list.

Should I send in an adaptation map of one of the modules that might enable this?

I've had a look through some of them and they don't make any sense to me.

I did that on my previous car (MQB A3). I'll look at what I had changed.

You could open/close the windows even after opening the doors for a couple of minutes.

That's exactly what I'd like to do if possible, and it would be very much appreciated if you could check your codings.

Thanks!

Jason,

This may not provide any useful information to you, but I wanted to point out that there are three actions that affect this behaviour, from what I noticed on my two VAG cars:
- ignition off
- ignition key removed
- door(s) open

I noticed that my Q3 will still allow the windows to go down, but not express down, with ignition off.
Q3 radio will turn off when ignition key is removed, but the Tiguan turns it off on terminal 15.
Doors open are yet another trigger, my windows will stop if I open a door.

Ah ok thanks for the info.

My caddy operates in a similar way.

Ignition off, key in - radio still works, windows work.

Key out and doors closedradio goes off but windows work.

If I open the door with ignition off, everything stays the same except power goes completely to the windows, and the same if I switch off, key out and open the door.

Thing is, the tick box that disables power to the doors once opened is unchecked, and yet they still don't work!

If you get a moment sometime, it would be appreciated if you could have a look at what your is set at in vcds, although sometimes, as I have discovered, regardless of what boxes are and are not ticked, the opposite still happens and so I think the eeprom is where it's set and I'm not prepared to go down that route!

Unless I totally missed it, you don't say what vehicle this is.

I can try to post my settings, but they may not apply to you, as I have seen many differences even between my two cars.

Sorry about that. In my defense, I didn't realize that was the car... I had to google caddy to see what it was...

I will try to looks through the settings of my Q3 as it might be closer at least year-wise.

I sat with my car for a couple of hours yesterday and cannot for the life of me find the adaptation channel I had tweaked.
I'll give it another look tonight

But isn't your A3 an MQB platform car? (see your comment in post #6).

Jason's Caddy is a PQ35 platform vehicle so the control modules, codings, and adaptation channel maps will be completely different to that of an MQB platform vehicle.

Jason,

From your first screen capture, I have bit 5 and 7 enabled, bit 5 being the rain sensor, which I have.
Second capture, same options as your car, but I have bits 0 to 3 enabled and 4 to 7 disabled.

Interesting.

I am away with work this eve, so ill give it a tweak tomorrow and let you know.

Although as Gary has said, we do have different platforms, but knowing VW they may not be that different 'internally'.

:)

Actually Gary replied to m_bolc, who owns an A3.
I have a Q3, which should be a PQ35 like yours.

Oh, I had not noticed I was interacting with another generation vehicle owner.

I'm still miffed that I can't find the tweak! I want it back haha
