2011 VW GTi - No Start Condition After Balance Shaft Replacement

Engine pulled to replace balance shafts. Once installed back into car we find a no start condition. Checked all relays/fuses and seem good. Grounds all good.

Units gets power but somewhere they do not communicate. I suspect the can gateway is going south. Anybody run into this type of thing before? Any suggestions?

When turning key to on position there should be multiple lamps illuminated prior to starting which do not appear.

Locate terminal housing T6z, below left headlight (item A in this drawing). Unplug it, ignition on, check T6z/2 and T6z/3 (male side) for voltages to ground. What are the two voltage values?

SC3 Has power w/ign on.

T6z/2 & T6z/3 you want resistance or just voltage i.e red lead to pin other to ground? If voltage there is none with ign/on.

SC3 is for the airbag module, so should be getting powered up via Terminal 15, good.

However, the lack of voltages for the CAN High and CAN Low at the T6z/2 and T6z/3 is very bad.

Just to be clear on what we are doing...ignition on, black lead of volt meter on ground, red lead on T6z/2 & T6z/3 and you should get 2 different voltage readings that add up to about 5V. Check both male and female sides of T6z/2 & T6z/3.

If you are getting 0.0V on the CAN High and CAN Low wiring, could those wires of gotten shorted to ground? Maybe ohm test from ground to T6z/2 & T6z/3 and see if you get a short.

I made this video a while back but never released it.... so today is the day...

Fuse #2 in dash fuse panel was no good. Problem solved.
