USA sidelights on UK A6 4F avant

Ive asked in other owners forums at the capability of adapting the car to have both front side indicators on constant as a sidelight but has been met with some resistance.

I've seen what looks like an A6 with the standard headlight unit with indicators on constant as a sidelight either that or a really well timed photograph and the owner had 4 way flashers on at the time.

Any help would be much appreciated. im aware its a fairly simple mod on Mk5 golfs

The 4F chassis generally does not have as much flexibility in lighting configuration and the Mk.5 and newer Golf-based cars, but feel free to post an Auto-Scan so we can see exactly what it's made of.

Your 09 module seems well documented in its label file. What happens if you change your 09 module's coding from 0112121 to 0112123 or 0112124, telling that module it's in USA or Canada mode?

It can't hurt to get out of the module gracefully and then cycle the ignition off and back on.

Personally, I wouldn't give up quite that easily.

I wonder if it objects to being out-of-synch with the instrument cluster coding, which should be:

xxxx?xx: Country
0 = Germany / 1 = Rest of World (Left-Hand-Drive) / 2 = USA / 3 = Canada
4 = Great Britain / 5 = Japan (Left-Hand-Drive) / 6 = Arabian States
7 = Australia / 8 = Rest of World (Right-Hand-Drive) / 9 = Japan (Right-Hand-Drive)

i had adapted the code, pressed "do it", the error message displayed, but the code entered in the box still remained the adapted code, then changing back to UK i got the same error message

Hmm.. Sounds like VCDS got impatient.. I'm thinking "Error 78" is indicative of a time-out..

So what effect does US or Canadian coding have on your lighting?

i didnt cycle the ignition, so no idea of results, i saw the error code and figured that it had failed, although on adaption there were no immediate sign of any change.

Will try again tomorrow and let you know. Im still curious how the person in the picture i posted managed to do it, unless theyve physically changed the wiring of the headlight

I know its different for USA cars since their bumpers actually have seperate amber sidelights built in
